I need pictures please!!! Sometime at the end of the month or first week of February Henri is going to the groomers to get a full body haircut. My baby is starting to look like a raggamuffin!:p His hair is short, about 3-5 inches long on his back, and I want to have it trimmed and shaped up a bit. His face is in need of a cut and so are his legs. I feel bad because usually I cut his hair but I don't have time to do it since classes for college started up again, I'm able to keep up with normal grooming: bath once a week, nail clipping, quick daily brushing. I researched groomers and went to visit multiple of them until I found this nice one that I'm going to try, thank you yorkietalk for giving me the knowledge on what to look for in a groomer. Anyway, I need YOUR help Yorkietalkers! I need pictures of your baby or any pictures you come across for ideas please!:D I want to keep his hair short but not too short, it's still winter and I want him to have some length to help keep him warm. I have a clear idea of what but I thought have a picture to reference to would help. Thanks!:) |
Unless you want a punk puppy I don't think pictures of my Guinness will help you :p |

Hair cut 1 Attachment(s) I always get Charlie shaved down very short and then his face I believe is what they call a puppy cut I dont like his hair long if he goes to long his feet look like he is wearing elf shoes LOL and then his body makes him look like a hobo, he doesnt have the strait sleek hair that show yorkies have it all wild looking hahahaha "Hobo Charlie" |

I can't be of much help. I just wanted to suggest to you to be sure to write down exactly what you want and go over it with the actual person that will be doing the grooming. That way, you will be a happy mamma when you pick him up. Good luck and we want to see pics! :) |
Since I loved Guinness' mohawk, I decided to try it out on Joey :) and his white patch of hair at the top is perfect because thats what stands up lol! Other than that hes got a teddy-bear face cut, rounded paws, and recently I trimmed his body to about 3/4 inch. Hes got thick hair and we are in Fl, so I dont worry about him getting too cold. If its really chilly hes got a hoodie. |
2 Attachment(s) I give my babies more of a puppy cut in the winter use 3 1/2 blade. I didnt have many pictures of Molli nekked but these ones might help :D |

1 Attachment(s) When Jack goes to the groomers (twice a year) I have him cut in a puppy cut. Here is a picture from about a week after one of his cuts last spring. I keep his hair longer on his head but he gets "bangs" and then he is shaved down everywhere else, except his tail. I also agree with the OP - talk to the person who will be grooming your pup. I have been taking Jack to the same place for 2 years now and he had always been groomed by one specific groomer. She knew exactly what I wanted because she and I discussed it. This past time I took him in, the owner actually groomed him and ended up taking way too much off his ears (I tend to keep that hair longer too) and I was not happy - even though it is written on his card not to cut the hair on his ears. |

I will definitely talk to the grooming to make sure she knows exactly what I want, thanks to the info on this site about how to find a groomer I think I found a good one :) Thanks for the pic!:D:) |
Tomorrow is the day! Thanks everyone for posting your lovely pics!:D I have one last question before tomorrow, do you have your Yorkie's ears pointed or rounded? |
When you get the puppy cut, what blade number should you tell them to use? |
I finally sent off Boo for his first cut at the groomer and the square face and shaved ears really shocked me. He looked like a different dog. More like a West Highland terrier... His ears were shaved at the tip and shaped much like a bats ears...THANK GOODNESS IT will grow out!!!!! I'll be bringing pictures of how I'd like his face shaped next time. I had them round out his face a little before I left...couldn't leave with him looking like another breed lol! My groomer also mentioned something about how some people like their yorkies' face shaved...what does that even look like??? I also should tell you that he no longer has a mustache...which I feel he should have more of..not as much as he did before the cut..but still more. Ugh, I hate trail and error...but how else does one get the look they like without letting the groomer try a few times... |
