Thanks for the update. Keeping them all in my prayers. I hope Tracy can eat a little to keep up her strength. |
Hi everyone, Sam is sleep for a few so I wanted to try and see if I could post right quick. Thank you all so much for your prayers and strength. Sam has had even his nurses crying :(. He is now on a heavy dose of morphine every 3 hrs and lortab in between if he needs it for break through pain and a longgggg list of other meds. But I think we are finally getting his pain under control. Earlier he mumbled about someone hurting him and I said who hurt you baby? He said God. My sister and my daughter broke down. I had tears running down my face but I nearly lost it! It's just soooo hard as a parent to see my baby in this kind of pain, I just wish I could do it for him. Surgery was very long, a little longer than expected he was put under at 7:45 and came out of surgery a little after 2 PM. They removed a piece on the bone at the base of his skull and also a piece of the top vertebrate of his spine. They also had to open the lining covering his brain and something can't remember what it's called sorry, should have been thin, but was thick, so she had to cut away the extra thickness and then it out, then they sowed in a synthetic graft into the lining covering his brain giving it more room to expand. There is a chance that the removed bone will grow back because Samuel is still growing and so young, which would mean another decompression surgery ( what he just had). Please pray with us he has a long road to recovery but praying that the bone does not grow back. He cried so much at one point that I broke down and cried also. Sam stopped crying and gestured me down and wrapped his arm around my neck and patted my shoulder and told me "mommy no cry" and we stayed that way neither of us crying because we didn't want to upset the other until his meds kicked in and he fell asleep. I looked up to see everyone in the room silently watching and crying including nurses and techs. Samuel is truly my hero and I KNOW he is a BLESSED child! |
Keeping you all in my prayers. |
I have been praying for you and your special little boy. I hope that Sam heals quickly and that he is free from the pain that he is feeling. Your story about Samuel has really touched my heart. Please try to take care of yourself, too, Traci. |
That poor baby :( having bone cut out and thinned or shaved as they sometimes call it is the worse kind of pain, I can not even begin to explain how bad that pain is!! It\'s nothing like having screws and pins in so I know what that poor baby is going thru :( |
I am keeping Samuel, you and your family in my prayers. |
I hope that his pain will be less. And that the area does not close. Good thoughts and wishes to you both |
