About a week ago I asked what you all use for bow storage to get some ideas for my girls bows...voila! here is what I came up with....its a bead storage container that I covered in material. Pic #1 just shows the container-there are three of them so it stores LOTS of bows. Each compartment can hold 3-5/8 bows or 4-3/8 bows. I plan on labeling each compartment so I can see at a glance what bows are missing! Pic #2 Im thinking about decorating the bone and writing "Bows" on it but not sure if I want to keep that there or not. Pic #3 shows side view and Pic #4 shows the top. Something isn't quite right...im not 100% happy with it so if anyone has some ideas about what I can do to "finish" it...please share. Oh...and I also bought a smaller bead container to store bows in their diaper bag when we take trips...not sure how I am going to decorate that but thinking maybe rhinestones!

Right now I am using a tool box type container.. I don't have so many bows so it works fine...but I really like your idea

Great idea. I have components like clips, etc., to make bows in a bead storage box already...and ribbon in dispenser containers. Is the unit that holds the bead storage boxes...with the little legs...part of the bead storage? Or did you make that separately? How big is a plastic bead storage box? Where did you find the bead storage unit?

So the secret...those three plastic boxes and the "unit" that holds them came from Walmart ($17). Craft bead section. The cardboard holder was black until I covered it w material using spray glue and it all came together as a set. I made the legs out of 8 wooden dollheads. I glued two together for each leg and then painted them pink. I bought the dollheads too small and that's why I used two per leg. The case sizes are about 7x10-3/4. They each have 16 compartments and then one larger compartment. Im thinking the larger one would fit band scissors. I don't have that many bows..yet..so im thinking Im going to also use this to store their necklaces collars and leashes. I just checked and even their leashes fit rolled up in the smaller compartments. Ill see if I have a pic of the before case so you can see what it looked like before the material. I have to finish putting the green beading around as I ran out of it.

Here is the before picture...I accidently put a dent in it when I tossed the bag in the car. :( but its kinda hidden under paint and material!

Oh I love that! I am just starting to build a bow supply. Have 4 coming in the mail this week and only had 2 before. I will be looking to get something soon. Love your set up there..nice work! :)

LOL that's how I started. :) and then I had to have this bow to match this outfit and pretty soon there was this cool looking bow that I had to buy an outfit for...sigh...its a sickness...and then there's Susan from Bowbiz who does such phenomenal work that pretty soon im going to have to get another yorkie (or Biewer) for all the bows!!! :)

The doll heads as legs is a very clever idea...and one I would not likely have thought of...:p I think it is ass cute with the two of them stacked up as it would have been with one larger one, too. I love the color pink you chose...

I think I got my bead organizer at Hobby Lobby...don't remember...it's been over a year. The ribbon dispensers I got at Michael's, and they clip together...so I got three and clipped all three ribbon sections together with one tray section (shown on the bottom in the images) which I clipped on the top and put the top/handle on top of the ribbons so I can quickly unclip it and carry it around for the scissors, bands, finished bows, etc., I store in it and the ribbons all just stay put. I used the other two top/handle sections as a grooming box, and the other to hold bands, etc. as a travel bag. Mine is the clear w/blue handle...but it comes in other colors including a "Holiday Green" color top.

I had gone 'on a mission' to find suitable storage and was 'disappointed'...:p...so, truly, I think you did a great job constructing something that is hard to find ready made. :D

I take it you make your own bows??? Im so tempted to try it but...I think they may be too tiny for my clumsy fingers!!! Thanks for the compliment...as I look at the pics I see things I need to fix...add a bit of glue here n there etc but the bow storage is just a small piece of what I am imagining for the Girls' stuff!!! :) Hopefully soon Ill be able to get their wardrobe done and post pictures..I've only been dreaming and planning for over three months!!! Its been so fun to see what others on here do for their pups clothes equipment and etc!

Have to slow down on the bows for awhile...I've been looking at the YT vendors....im in love with some of the clothes I've found, the hand painted brushes and I want to get a mustache comb and I want to try yorkie shine And I really love the cloud 9 beds...even though mine prefer my bed...sigh...time for another job!!! :) sigh...these yorkies...everything is so much fun!!!

I do make their bows...lots of them sometimes. Different styles...I just play, really. lol It started because I couldn't find bows I liked anywhere here, and I thought to myself, "How hard can it be?" lol It's kind of an addiction. :rolleyes:

There is the Mini Bowdabra...it might help you hold some types of bows at least.

Thank you. :) The more ribbon in the bow, the harder they become to hang onto...even with the Bowdabra. But, the upside is, when you can make them, you worry a lot less about the chew toys...ummmm...bows being destroyed. ;):p:D

What a great idea! I love it! Only thing I'd change is to move the top row of beads up so the top draw doesnt catch them when you use it. It's absolutly adorable! Thanks for the idea!!!!

You totally got that one right!! It is a bugger opening and closing--right now im filling the top container last so nothing is in it. The problem is there isn't really anything to attach them to to move the beads up. If I take them off it looks "unfinished" -- any suggestions as to what else I could do???? Plain ribbon looks just that...plain.

I wondered about that top trim and opening the first tray. ;) I was hoping it was easier to open than it looked. :D Maybe if that top row of trim was installed upside down so the beads would hang down over the ribbon...and maybe a teensy drop of hot glue to hold them in place, or maybe even leave them where they are but put a teensy drop of hot glue on the beads to glue them back up onto/against the ribbon. Maybe even cut them off and glue them onto the top ribbon, centering them on a little chalk line you can brush off afterward...so they make a little design...or matching them to the bottom trim. If you have a little extra, you could experiment before committing to a change. ;)
