I probably would've cautioned to always pay attention to any different behaviors and keep her vet checked regularly since a under-sized yorkie can tend to have health issues. I dunno..I hope I would've done that anyway...
She was saying that the dog is 15 yrs old, and blind..and she has to take it to the groomer again because she steps on her beard (is that what they call it for girls too?) hair. So sad :(

Oh my! 15 years old? Well bless this lady for taking care of her. What a life she's had already. Blind or not..that's great. As soon as she gets the beard cut, she'll be a lot happier, I'm sure.

My grandmother used to breed toy Poodles and she would go crazy when people would refer to them as teacup. "THERE'S NO SUCH THING!!" I didn't think it was THAT big of a deal at the time because, hey...we always add adjectives to nouns, right? Harmless.

And then I grew up and realized why she would get upset. :/

I used to try and correct people but now I just smile and nod and think they're an idiot. Ok, maybe not THAT harsh, but a lot of people are. :/

Shes had her for about 5 yrs she said, and I think the blindness is from her age...she didnt say it was always a problem.
I was gonna suggest she just trim the beard herself, but of course she can always bring her into the grooming dept one day at work.

Really? I thought there were teacup poodles, and toy poodles?
I remember when I was a kid my neighbor had a little poodle and I believe she called it a teacup, she was such a tiny dog, maybe 5 lbs.
The lady that owns the dog boutique that I shop at has toy poodles, prob 15lbs a piece..

Toy, Miniature, & Standard are the three Poodle categories.

Teacups of those bone china things with a handle that you drink tea out of...they often have pretty roses painted on them :)

:thumbup: Yep. To my knowledge, teacup doesn't exist in any breed...could be wrong though!

It is retail most of those people that work there are kids in high school and college if they had the train them about everything it would cost too much. They would interview with basic pet knowledge and hope they would learn more from the different departments and mangers of the store.

I can't imagine having a dog that tiny!! Huey is 7 1/2 lbs and the perfect size. If I wanted something smaller, I'd just get a hamster.;)

People think Troy is teacup when we are out and about but hes 4.5 pounds. I think the term is used loosely and the general population just doesn't know or care to know what the "jargon" is.:rolleyes:

After rereading my post, I realized it might be offensive to someone with a tiny dog. I didn't mean it any other way than as a joke. Sorry if I offended.

Hmmphhh sorry isnt good enough :mad: just kidding lol. I understood what you meant although I do have a half hamster half yorkie named Kyra:yelrotflm she is all yorkie but only weighs 2 1/2 lbs at a year old. In her heart she weighs 100 though.:p

Agree with you. I think people say "teacup" just to mean really small. Whatever that is to them - could even be 4lbs, which is normal breed standard for yorkies.
