Update on Milo Its been a bad 2 days. The shots really on a a number on my baby. I didn't know they would make him be so sick. He got his rabies and DA2P+CPV+CV. I do know that next time he will get one at a time because he has a reaction to one of them. He has finally started to play this morning :) but he is still sore and don't want us to rub his back or pick him up. :( I have felt so bad for him. |
aww poor baby. i give mine all seperate for the same reason. hope hes back to his normal soon!! |
I am sorry that Milo has been feeling bad. I do not understand why Drs warn parents that an imunization shot can make a child sick for several days. But vets dont warn of the same thing. It is normal to hang out at the Drs,incase of a reaction but not at the vet. I hope that he is back to his playful self quickly. |
Poor sweet Milo. I hope he is feeling better. I had a friend who had a little Yorkie get a rabie shot and she died from that. Little dogs expecially the really tiny ones-you must be very careful with the shots. It is risky. |
My vet would never give all those shots at one time to a small breed dog. It's good you are going to have them given at different times next time. Some vets don't do a lot of work with small dogs but it seems to me they should be aware of what can happen to a small dog when given shots like that all at once. Hope he gets back to his normal self soon. |
I hope that poor baby is getting better...I'm so sorry for you I know how badly you feel...remember, he knows you love him! |
Thanks everyone for checking on him.:) |
I'm happy to read that he is slowly getting back to his old self. I'm sorry he's had such a hard time and is still so sore. |
After reading YT and the problems our pups can have with shots, I insisted they give the shots 1 at a time. I read somewhere (maybe here) that the rabies shots are for dogs up to 25 lbs. Yorkies are about 1/5 that size on average. I took a day off work when she got that shot. I'm just slightly over protective! LOL! Glad your Milo is doing better :) |
My Dexter had a reaction to his shots when he got them when he was a year old. He would lay on my lap, very lethargic and he literally screamed in pain when I just petted him softly. I told the vet and he said he'd give him a pain shot before his next vaccines. So he did and he was not in pain the next time, but he had an allergic reaction and got covered in itchy hives all over his little body, his eyes swelled shut! NOWWWWW.... he gets a shot of pain reliever, a shot of benedryl, and his vacs, all at the same time. LOL Speaking of, after a quiet 3 years, we go for shots this month! YIKES! |
Milo is running around with underwear in his mouth this morning. Just trying to get me to chase him. Never thought I would be happily that he is doing this but I am today because that's means he is all better. Yea! I have read and learned alot about vaccines over the past few days. I will know better next time. |
Ahhhh yes the multiple shots at once. We learned our lesson this year and won't ever give Bailey all his shots at once. Glad to hear all is ok once again. |
Stupid vet. Shots should be given separately at least 4 weeks apart, no wonder the poor wee soul is ill, be sure to raise that issue with your vet |
I'm so glad that your little boy is feelings better. I'm sorry that he had such a reaction to the shots. You must have been so scared. I wish we could protect our little ones from all harm and illness. |
Glad to hear he is back to himself! |
