But there a lot that are; judging by what shelters and rescues tell us. Once again, it is not a knee jerk re-action that no puppy what so ever will be placed at this time; but rather an educaitonal opportunity to say; Hey think about the following. What in my mind is fair is; if you as the parent are thinking about getting a dog, any dog for a child of yours. 1) Be prepared that this pup is likely going to be your responsibility over the long term for their health, welfare, exercise, and training requirements. 2) For certain you will be financially responsible for their vet care, meds et al. 3) If your home is very busy over Xmas time, think about picking up the puppy later, and giving a gift certificate or another indication that a puppy is on it's way. Each home and situation is different. But I will say as a general rule of thumb I discourage placement of puppies at Xmas time. |
I did not see anyone say that ALL Christmas puppies "end up at the shelter or suffer a lifetime of neglect and torture." It is a sad fact that many of puppies purchased at this time of year do end up with a very sad story. Especially those who pick up that pet store puppy that looks so cute in the window and is available on a payment plan! Even shelter dogs that are adopted out around Christmas time many times end up back at the shelter in January. It happens all year long but Christmas time increases the numbers. The Christmas season many times incites people to make unwise shopping decisions and puppies are one of the causalities way too often. It's not judging. It is a fact. |

I never said you said that, I never directed it at anyone lol?? The OP started ''wonder how long before it ends up in a shelter'', and I think someone said ''idiots'' I personally don't think that's right and think its judging because you cant possibly know that because a puppy is bought at Christmas time its going to end up in a shelter or not looked after correctly. As I said, I don't think its a great idea to buy a puppy as a present for a child but people do it and some people understand that the child will not be doing anything but playing with the puppy lol. I just think some people are quick to judge. |
I have never heard of a payment plan for a puppy... what an earth is that all about ahhh!!! If you cant afford the puppy to start with how are you going to afford vet bills etc? Crazy.... I think that should be banned. Dint even know that existed :s |

I am happy to know so many people have had such wonderful results with Christmas pups but I also know that we here on YT are NOT the average dog people. I just pray that that sweet little white Malteze is now in a happy loving home and not already cast to the side like torn open gift wrap. Louise and Zachary |

In a way I want to stop there when I go pick up my Stella just to see this place in person.. NO not with Stella nor purchasing anything but just to see what type of sick money hungry people they are in person... Maybe I am nuts or just have odd views of things but to me it's like taking two little people or midgets or whatever the political term is locking them in a cage then breeding them as soon as they hit puberty and selling the offspring... Well hell two little people can make a normal size person but since it comes out a tiny baby who in the hell besides the man upstairs how big it will be at adult growth!!! PS I warned you guys I see things in odd warped ways haha :p |
I saw one Yorkie she said was sold to a family in CA that cost $6,000....wow...what a stupid family. There was another that said $10,000 and was sold...surely she meant 1k...right? |
