Why do people continue to be so CARELESS!! This was aired this morning on WSB TV in Atlanta. It apparently happened in Nov., and her yorkie is still missing. I tried to find the video, but couldn't. On the news, she was blaming everyone except herself! She should have left her yorkie at home, or taken him with her. College Park is a rough area...I wouldn't want an adult to stay in the car alone! Stolen Female Yorkie /Sily Terrier |
How awful! I don't know why people leave their dogs in the car! My daughter and I were going out today to do some serious Christmas shopping. I thought about taking Gracie because she hates to be home alone when I am gone for a long time. I didn't take her though because it would have been too stressful for her to go in and out of so many stores. It was cold and raining so she was better off safe and warm at home. Sometimes it is better to just say no! That dog is likely never to be seen again unless someone turns the thief in. |
It is sad. I had taken my cat to the vet. Then had to stop at the store to pick something up for him. I took him in. I do not get it. If you can not take your pup into the store why bring him. He is better off at home. Where he is comfortable and safe. I hope she gets him back. |
I am betting that she never does this again, if she gets another dog |
I never leave Morgan in the car |
How sad. I just don't understand how people can be so careless with their pups. I would never leave my two in the car. |
Poor little baby. No telling what kind of a home it will be going into and what its life will be life from that moment on - whether it will eat regularly, be left alone for long periods, go to a family with toddlers, get good vetting or worse. That just makes me sick to my stomach that her carelessness and the thieves avarice combined to possibly ruin the life of a good dog forever. I guess it is possible that somehow that baby could go to the mother of one of them or some longely lady or something and she will dote on it - I'd like to hope if this woman doesn't get it back, that baby winds up somewhere it will be loved and well-cared for but......................... |
Don't let my coworkers catch you leaving your puppy in the car, we had a lady come to work and leave some puppies in a pen with a blanket over it in her car Monday... We called the cops and had her arrested. Now with that being said I am actually guilty of leaving Guinness in the truck BUT the doors are LOCKED and the truck is left running with the AC and Tv going for at most 20 minutes. |
I am guilty of calling the police on people leaving dogs in the car. Someone left their dog in the summer. They had the woman paged but nothing so they broke the window took the dog and got him somewhere cool with some water. When she came out she was not happy and neither were the police |
So sad! I do bring Jackson on errands with me, but I never leave him in the car for longer than 10 minutes, and never in the summer. He just lays down, nobody even sees him, and my windows are tinted. And the only types of places I go are the gas station, CVS, or Chipotle or something like that. But I always get so frustrated when we go out to dinner or something and see a dog in the car, and then come out from dinner, and the dog is STILL in the car?!?! Like, if you're going out to dinner... why do you have to leave your dog in the car? You can't go to fast food or something?? |
I've had to leave Tibbe in the truck twice now in critical situations but I was a total wreck the whole time. Once was after he'd been in for a procedure and so had I or I was injured or something like that and knew I couldn't make it thru getting him home, getting out of that truck, Tibbe in and settled and getting back up into that huge thing again twice more and I was OUT of TP - had to get some! The other time was after his recent vet visit and I was having a very bad hip day. It couldn't bend that well, pain was very bad from too much walking the day before. Both times I parked right in front of the store where I could dash back to the front and look out every 30 seconds(and I did except for a two minute period that felt like it lasted a lifetime waiting in line to pay for the TP) and I hurried so and was so scared a thief was so easily opening my door and stealing him, I was almost in a panic. I was about half-rude to the checkout lady she was taking so long. I decided after this last time I just couldn't risk Tibbe again like that. But I never take him on errands with me - it's always a have-to situation where I'm bringing him home from a vet visit and I'm in bad shape, that after this last time, just seems too hard to go through again. A thief can be in and out of a vehicle so easily with the tools and tricks they now have, that a lifetime of regret & grief for me - and perhaps a lifetime of he_ _ for Tibbe can result from just leaving him for only a very few moments. I decide I can't go through my heart beating that fast again nor subject Tibbe to even the slimmest chance that he might be spending the rest of his days in some awful situation being starved or beaten! It's too big a chance to take again. He's worth my extra pain and the rest of our lives will be the easier for it. |
I just got back from Pathmark, and I walked by a yorkie locked in an SUV in the handicap spot in the supermarket, I felt like calling the police, but i saw a woman walking slowly to the vehicle and the dog was barking and acting all happy, so I just walked in the supermarket, is a Vet's office in the same complex so I think she took the dog to the vet left it in the car and went in pathmark.. I was so tempted to say something but I was with my daughter and she asked me not to say anything.. :( hugs, |
Oh how awful. I put full blame on those who took the Yorkie...same as I would if they broke into her house and took it like is happening so much in NV, plucked it out of a locked fenced yard, or snatched the dog while it was being walked on a lead and harness by its owner...same as if they broke into her car and kidnapped her. I hope they find the thieves...and I hope the lady gets her Yorkie back. How heartbreaking. |
Yorkies are the "it" dog right now. That's the sad truth. So a thief will steal if given any opportunity. It doesn't matter if you leave your yorkie in your car/truck for a minute (comfy or not..a/c or heat). A thief (ESPECIALLY around this time of year) will bust a window out to get the dog. It's been done around here and I live in a small town. I think the issue (with most people that do it) is that they still have that "back in the day" mindset. You used to could ride kids in the back of pick up trucks and it was FUN..not DANGEROUS (or so we thought), we rode bikes without helmets...we ran an errand for a minute and left the dog in the car. You just can't do that stuff anymore..it's a different world now. |
It's true these thieves can get into a car with tools that nobody will notice. They are very clever at it and usually have a helper staked out as a lookout. If you have to leave your dog in the car for a few minutes park up close to the building where more people are passing by. This time of year thieves are looking to steal gifts out of cars in parking lots and a cute little Yorkie would bring in some money or work as a gift for the family of a thief. |

Alisha, why do you have bullet proof windows? Is there something you aren't telling us? Hmmmm... ;) |
At my local Walmart, I march right in with HRH Dallas in his Kwiggy Bo. No one ever says a word to me. But the Walmart parking lot is the last place on Earth I would leave him alone. What really made my blood boil this week was Miley Cyrus' yorkie was killed by her bull dog, and how they just hand waved it away. Why she wasn't supervising a toy breed with a dog that was bred for fighting was beyond me. Miley Cyrus Loses Another Dog | The Dogington Post |
I keep one of my Kwigy Bo bags in my car ALL the time for this very reason. If I have to stop anywhere, I pop her in her bag and in we go together & no one is the wiser. |

So, someone tell me WHY can't our yorkies come into some or most stores? I seriously know my dogs are cleaner than some people I see in stores or eating places! It burns by butt when they are not allowed because of sanitary reasons! :aimeeyork |
Stores don't want to deal with the inevitable liability issues if you put your carrier in a basket and turned away, the dog was stolen. Or someone or a child who is phobic of dogs panics and hurts themselves running from a barking dog in a carrier. Or your dog is hurt in the carrier by falling merchandise, etc. And that's not to mention the nuts who would no doubt take flea-covered dogs in and shop forever, allowing the little critters to exit the carrier and craw all about in the store. Then, no doubt one or two would take them from the carrier inevitably and who knows what a dog will do if someone reaches over and tries to pet it or what happens should it jump from the cart into the floor and get hurt. Also, you know some people will bring in biting dogs and little children or anybody is not safe around those type dogs. Just some of the things that will always keep businesses from freely allowing dogs on their premises because all these incidents or others like them could generate lawsuits, aside from the health department concerns. Then think of those that will bring in the dog that just stinks to high heaven feces hanging from its coat and drives a lot of customers out. A lot of people don't have our same values and the misery and yuck factor not to mention danger bringing wholesale dogs into a place of business is just not practical with some of the customers they would have. And they don't dare try to limit it to sizes as that would raise all kinds of issues with somebody carrying in a 30 lb. dog and saying "but he's tiny!" or claiming they are discriminating against their dog and on and on. And then the personnel could be distracted from working petting dogs so I don't see businessmen and women ever allowing it. |
They stated that if her dog is found and returned, she will probably be charged with cruelty to animals for leaving him alone in the car. She said that she only left him along for a couple of minutes, but a couple of minutes is a couple of minutes too long. |

I would never leave my dogs in the car for even a minute. As is I worry about people seeing them in my apartment window and breaking in my apartment. Luckily I live in a pretty safe area but you can never underestimate how low some people will go to make a quick buck. |

Thats such a common mistake, and shouldnt be put on all "bully" breeds. I had a pitbull who wouldnt hurt a fly, and would probably attack if somoene tried to hurt anyone in my family, including sibling pets. |
