OMG.....The Smell! ! ! Ok, this is an odd question, but before I take Tia to the doctor, I wanted to see if anyone can help me. Tia will be three years old next month. I remember her having a funny smell for a long time, not strong though. Recently, the odor has been getting stronger. One day, there was an awful fishy smell. I changed my clothes, my friend changed his clothes, but the smell was still there. I washed Tia too! It took us a while to figure out that it was on the couch. The odor was so strong, we didn't want to sit in the same room! I washed the couch the next day. Well, it just happened again and I bathed her yesterday. The pillow and couch smells BAD. I've washed her butt and washed couch where she was laying down (pillow went into the garage). No poop stuck on her butt. Is it gas? Ally (her sister) eats the same food and she has never smelled like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. She is leaving a trail that nobody wants to follow! If this continues, Santa is going to put her on the Naughty List...and we don't want that! HELP |

I have had that happen a long time ago with one of my older ones. Her Anal glands were full and she would leak every now and then. |
If that's the case....this girl is going to see the doctor in the morning..... This smell is just terrible!!! OMG OMG OMG I've never had to get any of my dog's glands expressed, except for Ally earlier this year to see if something was wrong. How often should she get them expressed? I guess Tia will be SPECIAL! My little pain-in-butt!!!!! smell-in-the-butt too! Thanks |

Lol, another good one! |
I saw the title of the thread and immediately knew what the problem was before opening it lol I hope that a trip to the vet will take care of the odor...and it doesn't hurt to get the vet to show you how to do it yourself although I normally just ask my groomer to do it :) |
I have a terrier mix, and she smells bad when her glands are full. I have to take her to the vet because, for the life of me, I can not express them!! You might have to taker her to the vet every couple of months. And It's possible for the vet to show you how the do them your self! Hope your girls smells better soon!! |
When you find out how easy it is to express anals and how much they charge, you are going to do this yourself! As long as the dog is not a biter it is easy to do. My Yorkies get their anals done when I am bathing them in the laundry room sink. They do not mind at all. I stand them up and squeeze those little stinkers and out it comes. So much better than on my couch! Yes, it really stinks so wash it down immediately. Pat yourself on the back. You can do this! |
:eek:There ain't nothing stinkier than BUTT JUICE!!! One of the first times that Neo had an incident was when DH and I were taking him with us to pick out his new brother in Mobile. We were on the Bayway (a section of I-10 that crosses Mobile Bay and the Delta) when he decided to cut loose. OMG! At the time we didn't know what was causing the problem, and DH and I both were going down the interstate with our heads sticking out of the truck windows, trying not to gag. Luckily, we mentioned this to the breeder and she filled us in. She also expressed his glands for us, and we all were much happier going home! :D |

Yep...she was full......and for only $24....I'll let them juice her smelly little butt! Still don't know if I can do it...but the whole living room is shampooed, carpet and furniture, and bedding is being washed. She has had a bath every day for the last three days! I have that smell in the back of my brain and I have to get rid of it any way I can. They did tell me that if I do it too often, it could lead to problems. They also said sometimes it is linked to allergies and her allergies are bothering her right now. One of my neighbors did it to her bichon and the poor little girl couldn't go for an extended period of time without being "juiced"! ......I do have a juicer machine in the garage....hummmmmm Thanks everybody for leading me into the right direction. I'm not sure if I would have guessed she needed to be juiced! Thanks again!!!! |
