I would not feed them at all, buddy biscuits soft and hard made in usa and no by products and no dyes of any sort

Ok so slam me! I do treat with beggin strips because my guys LOVE them!! But, I only use them as a reward for pottying on their pee pads and only give a quarter size amount. I have tried every treat out there and they just love these!! I feed a high quality food so I figure a bit of nasty beggin strips here and there won't do any harm!!

What about just plain ol chicken, or hard boiled egg, or watermelon? You still want to give Beggin Strips even after reading what's in them? Did you not read the part where it says "meat"? Um EW!

Do you guys have any recommendations for tiny treats to give for potty training etc? I want something totally yummy, super healthy, and something that I can give frequently for good behavior.

Because with my hectic schedule, plain ole chicken and hard boiled eggs would spoil really quickly!! Ha! I do use many all natural great treats, but (shame) use these here and there!:rolleyes:

We always have fresh cut up fruits and veggies in the fridge. Really anything works, carrot, cucumber, watermelon, tomato, apple (no skin, apparently yorkies hate apple skin?), or tiny TINY bits of low fat string cheese, bits of boiled chicken, etc. I like to give human grade food but no fat, salt, or seasonings.

Kendra, I know what you mean about a hectic schedule. I am lucky to be able to bring Uni with me to work all the time. But what about fruits or veggies, cut up in tiny pieces and frozen? That should keep them entertained for awhile. Of course I don't know your situation, but knowing the facts about BS, there has to be an alternative that's just as easy. It's your babies' health and well being here. Hope I"m not overstepping any boundaries, just making some suggestions.:)

Kendra, I know what you mean about a hectic schedule. I am lucky to be able to bring Uni with me to work all the time. But what about fruits or veggies, cut up in tiny pieces and frozen? Nah... Not overstepping at all! I totally understand the concern! Again, I have a Hershey bar here and there and that's not good for me either! My crew are spoiled rotten and 99% of the time have nothing but the best.... But even they get tasty "junk" sometimes!! Lol

You can find something else thats easy. Buddy Biscuits Grain Free is USA made gluten free,no byproducts,no artificial flavors & colors,wheat,corn soy free and the ingredients are simple: Chicken, Chickpeas,potato then the rest is foreign but at least the top 3 some ppl may know??? It's soft and chewy. You can break them up. JMO

There are commercial pre prepared dehydrated meat treats out there that come from grass fed non injected meat sources. They are not terribly expensive and stay good for long lengths of time. If you don't keep fresh food in your home dehydrated meat is a good alternative.

You really want grass fed meat sources that have not been injected with antibiotics, steroids or hormones. When the meat is dehydrated those contaminates become even more concentrated. You can also make your own at home even without a dehydrator. There are instructions posted here and at other online places that show you how to use your oven to dehydrate meat and sweet potatoes.

Mine only get one ingredient homemade treats or the latest treats I made were ground venison, chickpea flour and a little extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil rolled out, sliced and baked.

I TRY to give fruits and veggies.....but Sugar does the stiff tongue flick and sends the offending "yucky stuff" flying across the room :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Oh...they also get Zukes Minis treats sometimes too.

I never thought about giving her fruits and veggies because the vet said he has heard of fruits killing some dogs. Is there only a certain amount I am suppose to give them a day? An to make this easy what fruit cant they have?

Dogs cannot have grapes or raisins or pits from stone fruits. Also, Avocado is good in moderation but is pretty high in fat.

Watermelon, pineapple, banana, mango,cantaloupe, Sweet potato, butternut squash, pumpkin,spaghetti squash,peas,strawberries,apples,pears, green beans, cut carrots, etc are all great options ~ providing you don't have a picky pup like one of mine :D:D

Curri will eat all of the above but Sugar rarely eats fruits by themselves. I do homecook and mix blueberries and mango or banana etc into her food. Veggies are the same with her. She can't see them or she will pick them out :D:D

Your vet should know that grapes and rosins are the dangers for dogs in the fruit area. Also tomato seeds and greens can cause some problems. Fruit as a treat is fine for dogs. Berries are full of antioxidants that are good for your dog. Apples, and banana are healthy treats as well. Treats of any kind should be limited and not interfere with their regular diet.

Honey is not a picky eater at all she will eat anything if you let her. After the vet told me that about fruit I never thought about that again.
