If the dog referenced above is standard colors, with the addition of white, wouldn't that make him tri-colored and a parti yorkie?

If the puppy is traditionally colored but only has a spot of white, they are not a Parti yorkie.. a Parti yorkie/tri colored yorkie/Biewer has a large percentage of the body white.. at a minimum the entire belly and inside of legs and tip of tail must be white.. most have alot more white (actually non color) that that.

If one of the parents of the above mentioned pup was a parti, that puppy is a parti carrier as he/she was given the recessive gene by one of his parents.. the traditional color however is dominate so you will get the traditional color unless you get 2 recessive "spotting" genes.. so, each parent would need to contribute one to get a tri color pup. In the above case, only one parent had the recessive gene to pass on.

Hi there, My Jersey is 6mths old and so far she is staying black....some of the black that was on her face is now a brown colour, honestly I can't remember if she was actually black on her face....lol

Briewers should stay true-colored, but I think only breeders can tell. My Dori had a beautiful black saddle, but it gradually faded out to silver gray. She retained white legs, tummy, tail and white on face. Show quality Biewers need to have a very specific color pattern. Dori was sold as a non-breeding companion.

I have a Biewer and he's stayed black...however there are silver variations.

Some Biewers stay black while others turn the steel blue traditionally thought of as the yorkie color. (and there are many shades inbetween, just like in all yorkies) As in all yorkies, it is difficult to get the true yorkie color.. some people prefer their Biewers to have the Black color, some prefer Blue.. per the standard, either is acceptable.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies! I love the black coloring and am hoping my lil guy stays black as he ages. He's 5 months old now and still black. Fingers crossed.
