If one of the parents of the above mentioned pup was a parti, that puppy is a parti carrier as he/she was given the recessive gene by one of his parents.. the traditional color however is dominate so you will get the traditional color unless you get 2 recessive "spotting" genes.. so, each parent would need to contribute one to get a tri color pup. In the above case, only one parent had the recessive gene to pass on. Hope that helps Diana

| Was wondering if the Biewer folks could tell me if they stay black (where they have black), or if they turn silver-blue like yorkies? Thanks! |

| Briewers should stay true-colored, but I think only breeders can tell. My Dori had a beautiful black saddle, but it gradually faded out to silver gray. She retained white legs, tummy, tail and white on face. Show quality Biewers need to have a very specific color pattern. Dori was sold as a non-breeding companion.

| Some Biewers stay black while others turn the steel blue traditionally thought of as the yorkie color. (and there are many shades inbetween, just like in all yorkies) As in all yorkies, it is difficult to get the true yorkie color.. some people prefer their Biewers to have the Black color, some prefer Blue.. per the standard, either is acceptable. -Diana
