Cotton Coated Yorkshire terrier? I was wondering if anyone out there (which I know of course there are), but I was wanting to know if anyone out there had a cotton coated Yorkshire terrier they would like to share pictures of? I recently adopted a new Yorkie puppy. He is the sweetest most precious little guy! But Anyways... I had no idea what a cotton-coated Yorkshire terrier was despite the fact that I have been a Yorkie owner for three years already! I took my new puppy Dexter to the dog park and a man (who also owned a yorkie) came up and told me how lucky I was to own a cotton-coated yorkshire terrier because even though they can't be show dogs their coats are beautiful in general and they are very cute house pets. I realize now the difference between the Yorkshire terrier coats since I have compared Clyde's coat (my current silkie coated Yorkshire terrier) to Dexter's coat. I definitely Realize that Dexter has a massive amount of thick black hair on his body that Clyde didn't have as a puppy. Honestly, When I went to pick out Dexter I chose him because he had the best personality so I didn't actually realize the difference between his hair and his siblings hair (I do now, though) who all had the normal silkie hair look to them. I will post some pictures of Dexter later, but until then I was wondering if anyone had pictures of a cotton-coated Yorkshire terrier that they would like to share! Thanks! |
4 Attachment(s) I have a cottony coated yorkie. She has very thick hair, but it tangles very easily. Here are some pictures of her as a puppy. The last picture is of her next to her silky coated brother... She looks like the same size as him, but was actually half the size at 3.5 pounds, she just had a lot of hair! ETA: I don't know why the third picture is so large... |
2 Attachment(s) Can't wait to see Dexter's pics! Momo is my cottony ball of fur loll. Attachment 376857Attachment 376858 |

My Blazer is a cottony fur ball, too! =D |
Momo is very adorable! That is the fluffiest little tail I have ever seen on a Yorkie! |
Couversmom, Dexter looks SOOO similar to your Yorkies pictures! Granted they have different faces and ears, but in general they look almost the same! Your Yorkies coat really does look like my little Dexter's hair. She is very pretty =) |
3 Attachment(s) I'm not sure how much of a cottony coat Joel is. But he's curly and wavy, and he doesn't have that straight smooth or shiny look so I think he's a cotton coat? His hair is EVERYWHERE no matter how I brush him, lol |
Luma is very silky all over...EXCEPT her booty!!! its so fluffy and I can never keep it parted like it should be. her hair is really long now and its gorgeous...but her bottom is fluffy :p |

He is only a year old and had to be shaved when we got him at five months old because he was all matted :( but I brush him daily and this is how it is growing out. He does have two large patches of black hair on his back that seem courser and straighter but they are now growing out and it looks like he is darker silver underneath that. I am curous as to when or if they ever stop changing colors? I love him no matter what color or texture though, of course. Just haven't seen many who look like him besides your Joel. |
2 Attachment(s) Hi and welcome to YT:thumbup: My girl is a cotton coat. Here she is..... Zhoie |
3 Attachment(s) This must be what Hal is! I could never explain why his hair was different than other yorkies lol |

hahaa his hair is adorable!! Hal has wavy hair too but its only at the very top of his head..when it grows out its like a little curly afro! Do you use any leave in conditioner on Joels hair? |

Another soft coated (technically the correct term. :p) owner here. He looks just like Hal with the kinks in the hair, it growing out instead of down, and it being super thick yet super soft. the only problem is his hair is much better at picking up dust particles and other allegens. My boy needs a haircut!! |
