Does your yorkie "talk"? Ok, Miss CoCo does this weird thing where we swear she is "talking". She's not barking, whining, or growling, she's "talking". She also sighs with "frustration" (I think). It's just so crazy. She's my first yorkie, so I was wondering if any of you yorkie owners experience anything similar, and how can I translate? LOL :D |
LOL...Romeo talks to me all the time. It's even funnier when I goad him, the more I talk the louder he gets. As for the sighs, yes!!! |
Georgie definitely talks and sighs! It's so cute my husband always say tell us Georgie and he leans his head to the side and starts talking:) Yorkies are more human than any breed I have ever been around:) |
Bella does the same thing. She is also my first yorkie and I just know she can have a conversation. LOL |
Ok, so I'm NOT crazy. LOL It's just soooo weird to me the way she acts. She is truly like a little lady. All I can do is shake my head in amazement of her. My sweet baby. |
Per my Avatar picture, Tibbe talks all day. He chirps, yodels, moans, clicks, half-barks as he brings his lips together like he's actually trying to form words, sighs and makes any number of sounds in his throat. He's ALWAYS standing in the floor "talking" to or at me. He hardly ever talks lying down next to or on me or at the end of the couch or bed. No, he gets in the floor and stands and his attitude sometimes is like he's got his hands on his hips - disgusted or admonishing; other times it's like one hand is reached out, palm up, kind of pleading. Other times he's just "YorkieTalking" away with no known attitude - just like he wants to fill the air with his voice. A lot of times he kind of extends his neck, puts his head forward and turns it slightly to one side to raise his mouth up a bit and he chats away. If I could only interpret all of it! |
Lol, Marcel is like that! He has specific little squeaks. He has sighs - contented ones, frustrated ones, I-want-attention-ones. I just love all his noises. |
Guinness is bad about back talk, the one picture I have of him giving the stink eye look he was back talking then because I told him he could not have another carrot. But if you get onto him and he does not think he should be in trouble or you are not letting him get his way he mumbles and talks back. And yep he sighs too when he is bored or you stop playing before he wants to stop. |
Columbo gives a lot of back talk. He always has to have the last word, even when you tell him to stop, he will mumble the last word quietly under his breath... |

Couver is my talkative one. He will use his voice to tell me what he wants... I know his huffs and puffs means he's frustrated with something, his whine usually means he needs to go outside or wants to eat... He is very vocal :D |
My Luna is very vocal. Catching it on video has been challenging though, she sees me with my phone and promptly shuts up:rolleyes: She says "mama" and "i love you" She will also "yell" at me when she wants something:p I find it adorable:D |
This is so funny to read. Wow, I never knew these babies were so much like us. My chihuahua is NOTHING like this. She's an awesome big sister for CoCO, but she quietly chooses a lap to sit in for the day and there she stays until she wants food, water, or a potty break. CoCo, she's another story. She's gotta be running, playing, talking, barking, etc. And EVERY morning without fail ,we have the same conversation. As soon as I am dressed for work she starts in on me, "mom, you've got clothes on. where are you going? i want to go. can i go. I want to go for a ride. don't leave me here." She does it until Ipick her up and love on her. Soon as I put her down, she goes right back in - even with her daddy being right there with her. That young lady truly has plenty of personality! :p |
Oh yes! Waffles talks to me. Tries to say mama sounds like raaaraaa its cute. She sighs, throws herself down in a tantrum and goes hrumph! She has fake sneezes, and tells us when she wants to eat. |

My yorkie does that talking thing to normally always when someone walks in the front door and if we are having a conversation in the living room she will do it too. A few times she has done it at my moms yorkie Sammy and hes like uhhh what lol. My grandpa has been on the phone a few times and she has run up to him and done it and we try to tell her shhh because he has a hard time hearing it really cracks us up some of the times she chooses to do that. |
I think it is so cute how these little babies do talk. My Lola Belle is hilarious she tells me when she wants something and hints to where i keep her goodies like come on mom i want it and i want it now. :p |
Joel doesn't talk :( But he definetly can make a fit with squeeks, groans and long growls, lol |
Tibbe talks through my phone conversations also. He obviously thinks all the calls are for him. He chirps and chortles and squeaks during the whole time I'm talking early on and only gives it up if I'm droning on for a long time with a friend or family member. He just lights up when the phone rings and jumps to the floor to stand right in front of me so he can react to everything I say and get excited if he learns we are going somewhere or someone is coming. Funny though, he knows business calls and will usually go to the bedroom during those. No fun in dry business calls and nothing Tibbe has to say about those! |

Max is a talker. I have learned to decipher his various sounds. Sometimes he sounds like Astro from the Jetsons :D. I love the sighing. My absolute favorite is when he softly says "Woof" just like a human. He does this to demand something, but then he combines it with a sit. I think he gets frustrated that he can't speak English. Teddy uses body language to communicate. It's fun observing the differences. |
I love hearing about Yorkie Talkers. Buster is quite the conversationalist too. That combined with their attitude is hilarious. When I have burst out laughing from his telling me he wants a treat and now he can get all huffy and make a harumph sound of disgust and walks away. Love the big personality in a small package. |
Mina is a talker. Some of my family thinks that she is whining like a brat, but really she is just trying to have a conversation because we are talking. She can pout too, with the saddest eyes. Im pretty sure, given time, she will figure out how to do the "lip thing" like my DD does. |
Sneakers howls, and has taught Becca to. They used to sing in harmony, but Becca's voice deepened as she grew. Now it sounds like a Minor 7th. Hopefully Ichabod will learn, and they can do a Trio. Becca does an "Eh" when she's trying to get my attention. Sounds like what some ol guy might say, if it didn't hear what you said. :D |
Mandie doesn't talk a lot, but she does fuss quite often. lol She will tell me all about it when I'm on the computer and she is NOT. Fuss fuss fuss. lol |

Some of my Yorkies do talk. I have talked (bragged) many times about my tiny little Abba Daddy being the sweetest Yorkie I have ever had and how he talks. When he is talking love poetry, he puts his body in a C shape with his tiny nubby tail almost, touching his beard. He makes growly, yodel, baby gurgle sounds in his throat. He will dance on his hind legs wanting to be picked up then cradles his head between my breasts or tucks his head and rubs me like a powder puff under my chin making soft little sounds awwww, mummmmmm ahhhhh. When Gracie wants her own way she grumbles and makes errr, raaa, umm sounds, And sometimes a teeth click that sounds like a kid snapping gum. She sighs when she snuggles on my lap or in bed when she gets comfy. Gracie truly screams when she thinks I am leaving without her. Rubin has whines down to an art form. He has a whine that expresses every emotion. His whines can be endearing, demanding, loving, bossy, sad, and angry. He also does several different throat growls when talking to the other Yorkies. Ginny Joy has learned to copy Gracies drama protests when I leave but, she does a high pitched squeak not a real scream. Other than that she is very quiet. Julia Rose is still doing puppy yelps. |
Jack most definitely talks and sighs (usually when he is tired or frustrated). I swear he thinks he is human. Izzy hasn't mastered the art of talking yet and she actually acts more "dog-like" and Jack. I think it has to do with their upbringing. |
Joey def does the sigh. When I get him up for the day and he has to get his lazy butt out of bed he lets out this big yawn and sighs..haha |
