No on my own piercing experience. They sterilize all the equipment. And they shave the area for tattooing.

Some things are just made for people! Too bad some people forget that.

LOL, no! Claire's is a cheap people accessorie's store in the mall. That was the type of place I was saying that my mom took me to get my ears pierced when I was a child. The girl who pierced me was a kid herself, a teenager, and I don't know why my mom and millions of other moms thought it was a good idea to have another child with no certification put a hole in their own child.

My grandmother used to pierce her children's ears with a VERY cold potato cut in half and placed on either side of the lobe...then plunge the needle through. WHY?!!? :eek: Sally + Harry x

I cannot speak for anyone but my two, but, yes, they loved clothes from the start...when they first saw them, in fact. However, I got the Yorkies when they were 14 (Brody) and 17 (Mia) months old and I got them 3 months apart. There is actually only 6 days difference in their ages. Brody had never worn clothes before, but Mia had...and her previous owner said she hated it...and she wouldn't wear a top knot. Well, not at my house! :p

I got them little quilted jackets 12/23/11 and wanted to try them on while my groomer was still open...so I could exchange them if they didn't fit. Mia's fit, but they were bouncing so much it was hard to try Mia's on her. Then, when I tried to fit Brody, he was crazy jumping and I pulled my back...made for a horrible night at the Christmas event at my older child's home. The next day, I tried again, and both jackets fit fine, so I removed them. The Yorkies went nuts...jumping up and down, grabbing them in their teeth and pulling them. I held them high enough they couldn't damage them, and both Yorkies just sat down looking so dejected! :confused: So I asked them if they wanted me to put the jackets back on, and they got all happy again. I started a thread in the YT 'photos' section. They wore them for 3 days straight until the temp warmed up again.

So, after the Christmas stuff wound down a bit, DH and I went shopping for sweaters, etc., for them to keep them warm and now they have 'a number' of garments. :D They LOVE to dress up, and THEY like to select which one to wear...so I choose a few and hold them out so each Yorkie can select his/her clothes for each occasion.

They would voluntarily wear them 24 x 7 x 365 if we didn't take them off, and they will shove their heads into the garments, and if they want to wear them still when we go to remove them, they will hunch over and/or crouch down to try to prevent the garments being removed. :D

I don't think a young puppy likes topknots or clothing. Most pups just want to run around and have fun. With a long haired dog they have to be trained to accept grooming as any dog should be. Gracie never wore a bow as a young puppy but I did put grooming bands in to keep her hair out of her eyes. It didn't take much to teach her. When she found that her sweaters made her more comfortable she was quite accepting of them. But I didn't make her wear anything that was constricting or that would make her uncomfortable.

They sound so cute being so excited. My Jilly and my sister's Silky Mindy both wore sweaters, soft, warm for cold weather. One really cold day I was talking to my sister on the phone & she laughed out loud so hard. She said Mindy had brought her a second sweater to put on. I say sweater but they were really more like t-shirts. Mindy had one on, the fire in the fireplace had burned down and Billie said Mindy was there wanting more clothes! She put it on her and she wore 2 t-shirts until they got her a real sweater the next day! She would come running to get her sweater on in the winter. Later, she got even more. Jilly wore a sweater when it was very cold sometimes, too but did not like it at first. I had to insist she keep it on as it was cold outside and even inside pretty cool down on the floor and she kept scratching and rolling around, going in circles in it. I only made her wear it for a short time until she gradually worked up to it - but it was to keep her warm. I think she came to understand it felt warm as later, she would run to me when I got it out and she stopped scratching a lot. She never liked the one dress she had made for her for NYE 2000. She wanted it off!

I was wondering about dresses and jewelry, shoes for dogs, putting in topknots, wondering if most dogs like wearing those things from the first or have to be desensitized to them over time. I can see where a dog that is cold might really like wearing something warm and soft but wonder about how some of them do with their first topknots or first dress or hanging necklace.

Course I've never tried a necklace or dress or onesy on Tibbe but he is not a big fan of even wearing a soft sweater in the cold. He rubs his body on things and scratches with his hind feet and wallows as if he wants it off. When I ask him if he wants it off, he comes running fast. He'll wear a sweater if I leave it on but he's not best pleased.

I did my own second set with I was in middle school as well, and I also started to gauge my ears out myself to, until a certain point, then I had to go into the piercing studio. I'm done now. :rolleyes:

I don't know whether dogs 'naturally' love things like clothes. I would guess mostly not, but I think it likely depends on the dog...and some may never accept wearing clothes, etc. But, except for my Yorkie Poo, I have never dressed any of them in clothes, and the Yorkie Poo was only in winter...sweaters, etc. which I made for him to keep him warm...he got his silky single coat from his Yorkie heritage.

I would NEVER consider piercing their ears or anything else outrageous...except I do think Mommy and me tatts is just too funny...maybe the washable kind! :p:D

Yeah, I think Tibbe and I need matching temp tatts to make us look cool or hot or whatever the latest word is. I can just see us now showing off our belly tatts!

Well I really dont appreciate you attacking me Im entitled to an opinion same as you. I never anywhere said I would pierce my dogs ears because I wouldnt I dont even really dress my dogs. We are a more athletic family and so are my dogs. I wouldnt judge anyone who does choose to do it though and I think anyone who would but dresses a dog or stuffs them in a bag is being hypocritical.

People think I am crazy when I say Guinness LOVES cloths, PJ's, socks and shoes or slippers until they come to my house... he does not care who you are or what you are trying to do at that moment but if he thinks it is bedtime he is forcing you to put his PJ's on him!! My husband took off his PJ's one morning to potty and we were rushing to go out for the day with friends so he went got a shirt placed it in my friend's lap as she sit on the couch and did his yorkie talk and mumbling, so of course she yelled out to me to come in the room and figure out what was wrong with my dog lol I told her he is asking you to please put on his shirt he just handed you.

I find the whole piercing thing odd myself BUT then again I also have a dog with a dyed mohawk that not everybody might feel as if it is "right"... as long as it is not harming the dog and you are making sure to take proper care of it such as you do with your child's ears who am I to say what you do or do not do... to each their own.
