Mine get a steroid before vac's. My vet also goes over any and all reactions that my happen and what to watch for. My Vet also has the owner sign a Vaccination Consent Form with all the info on it as well, with a copy given to the client. My Vet also follows the AAHA Guidelines for Vaccinations. Mine do get a Bordatella vac every year, as they go to the groomer and it is required. On this Vac they get the injectable one. I also don't do Lepto or Lyme's as two of my previous Yorkies had horrible reactions and I almost lost one. |
This has been some great information. Thanks for sharing. I sent this link to my wife. I want her to be informed as well so this will never happen again. xoxoxoxox, Ron |
I'm sorry Bailey and you had to go through that. He should never have given him all those shots at once. The rabies should always be given at a different session. Most adult rabies shots are good for 3 years so if Bailey already had that shot last year he may not have even been due for another. There has been some question in the pet world about over vaccination of our dogs and cats. How can humans go through life without boosters yet dogs are supposed to be redone every year? Some vets think it is causing some autoimmune issues in pets. Personally, I am holding off on having any more shots for Gracie. She is not due for her rabies for another year and I will consider at that time if I want her to have any other vaccinations. |
