How is he feeling? |

Oh boy, Maxi is doing REALLY well, it's as though nothing happened....as soon as we came home I brought his crate into the living room and sat next to him. The doctor said he probably wouldn't eat, but I could feed him 1/4 of the amount of food I usually feed him. Well, Maxi had a huge appetite, he was sooooo hungry, poor baby. I did give him a little more than the dr. suggested but he was ok. He was able to go potty outside, and every time I took him out of the crate he actually wanted to play, he would bring his toy to my feet and just look at me. Soon he was even trying to run around the house so I just picked him up and back to the crate. He slept through the night and woke up at 5am and ate, ate, ate. Then back to sleep, woke up at 7am, and ate some more, lol. He had so much energy this morning, just like his normal self :) I had to go to work so I asked my husband to take him for a walk, and now he's sleeping again :aimeeyork such a strong boy!! |

Bailey neutered yesterday is very lethargic Quote:
This morning although he has gone outside in the yard, he didnt go potty. Finally about 10am I got him to eat some chicken and when i held the bowl of water up to him he drank a good amt. I am waiting about 1/2 hr to make sure he keeps down the food till I give him the metacam liquid they gave me for pain. I did not think it was used for pain, but i am following their instructions. The disturbing thing, is that he just stands there with head down..doesnt want to walk or lay down. Incision looks clean. Hope this helps someone as I have been searching for what to expect...yorkies are different than just dogs. |
He is in pain. Once he gets the pain meds he should feel a little better. I hope he feels better. Keep us updated how he is doing |
Bailey is totally back to normal! Today is 2nd day after surgery. I gave him his metacam this morning just to see if it would calm him down. It didnt. He is going up and down stairs, jumping onto the chair, etc. So this is going to be a struggle keeping him in slow motion. He has dissolving stitches and has done some licking which i just try and distract him. Tried a newborn pampers, & a sock with the toe cut off, which works...but it doesnt seem to be a big deal. Actually my real concern is his absolute frantic, spastic excitement when I return from an errand. Like I had been gone 3 yrs! Hope he gets over this. I have to get down low on carpet so he doesnt kill himself trying to kills me. Good luck to all that have to go thru this still. |

UPDATE on Maxi: He's doing really well, it's almot been 2 weeks and the wound has healed nicely, there is only a small scab which hopefully will fall off soon. He is quite stinky though...we usually give him baths every week but because of the surgery we had to put it off, but I think tomorrow we'll give him one. |
