My little mouser Ughhh! I left for the hurricane for about 4 days and when I went into the pantry, I saw signs that we had a mouse/mice. Ewww. Long story short, one of the 2 mice get out of the pantry past hubby and runs who knows where in the house (great :(:(). While hubby is putting the traps in, Hot Rod starts to dig at and around the bookshelves in the living room. He's getting to the point that he's in the toy box pulling all the toys up and out and scratching the bottom of the shelving. Then Maggie May starts. Hubby puts a trap in the panty as well as behind the tv shelves. Both traps have a mouse in them this morning, Thankfully! I couldn't belive how Hot Rod zero'd in on it out the clear blue. He's such a calm, loving dog most of the time but he was rearing to get to the little mouse. I guess his instincts are still with him. I'm just glad he/they didn't find it first. |
It's in the genes:D |
Go Hot Rod! :D I think Teddy would go after a mouse, but Max is all bluff and would bark from afar. Glad you caught the little boogers before your hunter did. :p |
Oh trust me they still have the instincts because mine brought me a present from outside one day and gave it to me in bed... A nice fresh mouse head!! |
Be very careful, mice carry Leptosporosis... |
I am amazed how much of that rodent killing instinct these little dogs still have. Gracie has never met a rodent but when we are outside she is always searching for prey. When she is inside playing (fighting) with her toys she growls at them as she shakes the daylights out of them! |
Oh fun more mousies to look forward too. . . . The cat presents aren't enough |
I would die if Joel brought me something like that. He did pick up a dead mouse outside but I quickly got him away, I was trying not to put Lysol in his mouth, lol |
tHat is great Hot Rod led you to the mouse. The only mousers in our house are the cats |
My Scotty was only 3 lbs. fully grown and when I was home recuperating from surgery, he "gifted" me with a headless mouse - one he'd caught! I didn't even know we had a mouse so no traps were done or anything. He did it all on his own! I praised him but couldn't let him kiss me for days after that. |
Go Hot Rod! You've still got that terrier in you! Jackson was chasing a poor bunny in the yard the other day .... I admit, it makes me smile that his instincts are still there! He has found a mouse or two in our house as well. |
Got Mice ? I know mine went crazy when we had a mouse on the screen porch it went under the washer they barked and pawed franticly. Finally the mouse escaped via the outside dryer vent. The Yorkies sniffed around there for days. |
I love looking at these sweet little dogs and laughing about knowing how they were bred for rat hunting! The first time we brought Blazer and his litter mates outside Blazer and Gibbs both went on point at a mouse under a bush! DEFINATELY strong instincts there! Then Labor Day weekend we were up at a friend's cabin and my GSP started hunting something and Blazer was right there backing up. Quite the hunting team. I'm pretty sure watching that is what finally won my husband over on having Blazer in the family. =) |
Ewww...just thinking about mice CREEPS me out! Last winter I came home from work, picked up Yazmin and let go through her excited ritual of licking my cheek. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a dead mouse! I flew out the back door with Yazmin grabbing her coat along the way. I called my BF to get the mouse out of the Apt., then called a Hotel and made a reservation for me and my dog! We didn't come home for almost 2 weeks until the exterminator guaranteed me my Apt. was rodent free! :D I'm such a big chicken! My BF was upset with me because I left. It wasn't me he missed, it was Yazmin. :D |

Had to laugh because that is about what I'm ready to do. Hubby told me his travel schedule and I told him that he'd better get this under control because I'm ready to head back to my sisters whenever he's traveling and then some. lol |
