| Morning Vomit Hey YT - Does anyone have a problem or know anything about Yorkie's throwing up in the morning BEFORE they eat? We usually feed him between 7 and 8, but every once in a while we sleep in or get really busy and don't feed him until a little later. If that happens, it seems like he throws up a bright yellow substance by 9 am. I know the easy solution is to make sure we feed him between 7 and 8, which we try to do, but life isn't always perfect. I wanted to know if this was normal or common - or if there was something more to it. Thanks in advance. Hope everyone had a great Halloween. |

| My vet said it was due to an empty tummy which I know Guinness does it when he has not ate. I have often wondered too if that was 100% correct because we have that problem every other week or so BUT Guinness also throws temper tantrums and does not eat when he does not get his way lol

| Omgosh what a cutie! If it's a yellowish throw up it's bile because he has an empty stomach. Now having said that it's almost like when you are hungry but feel sick so you don't eat. I was so confused when Georgie use to do it because then I would offer him food and he would walk away. Georgie loves boiled chicken so he gets a little before bed (if he eats dinner early) just to make sure he doesn't have an empty stomach when he wakes up.

My furkids Donating Member | my girls will do this if they have an empty stomach...once they eat they are fine., I free feed...so this doesn't happen very often...If you normally feed between 7 and 8 and he is fine then I wouldn't let him go any longer....JMO

This may be the solution to your problem of not being able to get him his breakfast within 12 hours after his last meal...his little tummy is empty and it is causing him to throw up....just leave him some of his kibble down and then he can eat when he gets up early. I have been on diets my entire life....I "feel his pain", being so hungry he throws up!!! That is a miserable feeling!!! | |

| Zoey does this if she isn't fed by 8am. The vet said to give her a snack before bedtime. I give her veggies around 6 (even though we don't get in bed until later) but I MUST be up no later than 7:30 or she barfs on my bed. Empty stomach syndrome.

| Emy does that when she hasn't ate, so I started just grabbing a few kibbles out of her bag right before we go to bed and giving them to her so she has something in her stomach...haven't had a problem since...I also throw her a few kibbles during the day when she starts giving me the stinkeye and looking at the pantry door where her food is kept!...my concern is when I have her spayed, they aren't supposed to eat 12 hours before the surgery....Emy will be going nuts by 9:00 am ...we get up very early in the morning...around 5:30 - 6:00 and she wants to be fed like right now when we get up... |

| Thanks for all of your replies! We will have to try a late night snack or something. We tried to free feed him, but he doesn't really like to eat... ever... and we have found that if we put it down twice a day it is a little more appealing to him. Thanks again! |
