All of you stay safe and listen to what Yorkiemom1 said about leaving. I had been through many hurricanes, living in Mobile, but when Katrina came that was the first one where we had no electricity for two weeks and I had to stand in line for ice and food. Never want to do that again. |
Stay safe and be careful. Stay in touch if you can. |
Def do not come home now! |
We are not looking forward to this here at all...We had a catastrophic storm 6 years ago...much of the same elements are here today as the wind and rain are already here... Leaves on trees being the biggest problem...its not quite cold enough to snow but it could easily change because of the lakes and the canadian air...the weather folks just aren't sure what will happen yet, here anyway... Heres what happened 6 years ago: Buffalo, New York snow storm closes schools, leaves nearly 400,000 without power - Wikinews, the free news sourceAt that time I had my Mom and Dad and my ex, we were all at our tenants house because he was the only one who had electricity...my mom was literally the last one to get power in the area...it was crazy... I now live in a house that I have no idea how it will fare if the power goes out...I have sump pumps but no backup for power failure...that cost $600 and I had planned to have it installed when I saved for it....the former owner is a liar so I have no idea what will happen....so keep your fingers crossed that I'm not bailing water...thanks! |
Praying for everyone. Please be safe friends, if they say leave, leave. I have been in some hurricanes and they are serious weather. Don't wait until it is too late. If you leave and the storm misses your area, count it as a blessing. It is better to be inconvenienced, than to stay and be dead. |
Please stay safe all northeast coast Yorkie Talkers!. Although we only expect to receive the tail end of the storm, apparently winds here tonight are expected to be 70km gusting to 90km per hour. Plus rain, and maybe downed power lines. So this wkend we topped up the generators, recharged battery packs, and topped off water supply in house. I just need to dig out the portable air mattresses in case of power outage. That way we will only heat two small rooms if heat goes off. Unfortunately the car is in the garage getting services and such, I don'tknow when the car will be back home - but it is topped with gas:) |
Praying for everyone to make it through the hurricane safely |
Keeping you all in my prayers to ride this terrible storm out safely. |
Checking to be sure everyone still safe. Prayers are headed your way tonight so please stay at home and safe as possible through this long night. |
In central PA the wind gusts are picking up and the rain is steady. Power is flickering for a few seconds at a time - hoping that's all we get, and we don't lose power. News men say 1.5 million currently are without power in the various states. My dad and aunt in CT have lost power, but sister and nephew there still have power. Daughter in D.C. still has power, thank goodness. Trying to get through the evening at least with power. Staying put in the house, not going anywhere. |

Thank God you aren't in Maryland Kim. I was so worried because I didn't know if you had left for the Keys yet. To everyone else in Sandy's path please be careful and safe. |
Made it through the night. The winds were wild! Pups and I were huddled together on the bed:) About 30,000 folks without power in Toronto, but subway was running this am and most bus routes as well:thumbup: It is still raining but the winds have calmed down, and best of all I have my car back:thumbup: I understand NYC got hit hard.... Hope our YTer's there are okay... |
