Newbie with tons of questions so beware :)
 

Hello everybody... After years and years of begging I got my little guy last year and after owning Chow's, pits and a Heinz 57 breeds I figured he would be a breeze... Oh my was I WRONG lol

3 puppy schools and tons of time spent later and about the only thing Guinness and I can do as a team is high 5 lol
But I just wanted to say hi and warn you that I will be bugging you guys :D

The more I read other people's issues on here the more I start to wonder if I just got a "broke" yorkie lol
I met the parents both sweet loving playful but calm 5lb male and 6lb female and thought I would get a puppy like the parents LOL I now have a 12lb bull in a china shop that has the energy of a child after Mountain Dew and a bag of candy lol I had no plans of getting him fixed till I witnessed him chase a squirrel catch it by the tail to pin down and hump. He has licked the paint off my kitchen walls ate a hole through the wall to chase a spider wakes us up at 3 or 4am to beat us in the head with toys to play so by the time we wake up in the mornings we have 5 to 7 toys and 2 deer antlers in bed with us lol
Even if he does fall asleep this dog still is running in his sleep lol
And training lets not even there... He has failed 3 schools.. I did have him potty pad trained so now that just means anything that is the size of a square is where you potty even if it is the mat outside the door OR he will bark or ring the bell to go out then come inside to poo on the door mat inside. Oh did I mention he must not have liked the carpet in our bedroom because he decided to make a HUGE yarn ball, can't really say I blame him because it was ugly BUT we rent this house. And to be honest I really am not sure he knows his name because he never comes when called.
I am at my wits end but love my brat to death so I just deal with it and keep telling myself he will outgrown it... Right?? I hope LOL

YAY......love new members! Welcome to YT. I've had my Yorkie for almost 2 years now. I also begged for years!!!! She is my "little girl"...........I love her SO much!!!! First let me say Guinness is my baby NO not a designer purse puppy but a child :) now I fear I might get judged because of his punk style so a lot of my pictures I am scared to post out of fear.
But he is a BRAT you can NOT take a shower alone because he jumps in and stares at his shampoo then growls and barks until you wash him too DAIlY!! And if he thinks it is bedtime he has no problem going into his clothes basket to bring you his PJ's... You ask if he wants to go for a ride and off he goes to get a shirt... I know this is partly my fault but geezzz you can't master come stay sit lay but you damn sure know pjs and shirt lol

Are you sure that you arent at my house,oh wait the big guy at my house is a poodle,weighs 13lbs and is like talking to Eeore. But then there is Mina the yorkie. Sit ok,sit up pretty ok,down ok,come ,,,what was that you said. I dont understand that word,well actually I just dont wanna.
Anyway,sounds like he us just being a little boy and that is fine. Mina picks out her dress everyday and if I dont dress her she hides in her crate,so we dress,brush teeth,put bow in hair. She is our baby girl and ya my family thinks that I am nuts,but that is ok too.

Sounds like you have "Marley" in yorkie form, LOL! What a handful! He sounds very smart and definitely OWNS YOU!! :D

It sounds like you have quite a character there. These dogs have tons of energy. You might want to take up jogging with him or at least going on a couple of very long fast walks daily. If your guy is tired he is less likely to wake you up at night or get too crazy during the day.

I have a couple of health issues but I would not miss exercising Gracie for the world. I know the price she would exact from me if I didn't let her get that energy taken care of.

We go outside and play tag every night before bed to the point of him hacking from so much running... Still we get woke up to play in the middle of the night, I regret the day I got him the stuffed frog that makes frog noises because hearing it nonstop for an hour around 3ish am.

Sorry to tell you if your hoping as he gets older that will change....it may not! Georgie is 7 and has a lamb that he plays with at 1am or whenever King Georgie chooses LOL

Really enjoyed reading about your baby. I too am new to the yorkie "game" and that is what life with my Buddy is like -a real game. I also dealt with larger breeds so having a little boy fur babe ruling my life feels unusual. He is a character & I cant seem to housebreaker him. I'm sure I'll have tons of questions for you guys also.

I don't know... to me.... it sounds like Guiness has you well trained. LOL. I know that feeling. Ours have us well trained too. Even with playing chase every night... it would do him good to get out for a long walk every day.... so he can smell new things and meet new people/dogs as they walk by.

Now that my health has improved... we take our 2 for daily walks. They are both happier and better behaved. I think they get bored when they can only be on your property and in your house. They need something to redirect their energy on. They get to smell all the messages that were left by other dogs and leave a message or two of their own. Their little minds are enjoying new things on each walk. It is the best thing we can do for them.

Just my thoughts and suggestions. I think your baby is a little doll and you are blessed to have him love you.

Yea I know I need to go back to our walks but with my health issues I have good months and bad months. I actually just started looking last night for a play mate to add to our family... Not sure if that is a wise choice but at least I know he would have help licking all the paint off my walls haha

your little man has me cracking up!!!!! My sister's yorkie was bananas when she was a puppy. My sister had to jog with her every day; sometimes twice a day! She finally just taught her walk on the treadmill :D
