There were people holding the little female puppie and one of my friends was holding the male. The mother looked so exhausted or stressed to me. |
I guess I am overly concerned about the welfare of kids and animals but I have to wonder why this woman decided to add raising dogs to her money making scam? She apparently is not concerned about their welfare and dogs do make messes that need to be cleaned up. Do you think she really gets that kind of money for the pups? There is a puppy mill about 40 or so miles from where I live. They sell pups in the classified ads, to the near by pet store at the mall and they also ship them to other states to be sold in stores. Maybe this is just one of her puppy sale outlets. It just doesn't seem like she would sell many pups at that price at a flea market where most people are looking for a good deal. |

They get those $ everyday however I imagine they take less after haggling. If someone can go to a flea market looking for an antiques road show find of the year they sure can fall for the fluffy new puppy. Wonder if flea market sales solely relu on buyer impulse and therefore these breeders offer no health co tract anything just $$$a fir puppies |

This lady is there every year that i have been going to this festival and always has tiny dogs there. On a good note i LOVE this festival, but it is the last one for the year which means winter is on it's way. I ate way too much food yesterday, hubby and kids want to go back on Wed. hmm i may have to knock off work and go with them lol. |
This is so sad... 11 females? Wow, wonder how many litters and males she has running around. |
I realize this isn't what your thread was really over...but you were talking out selling puppies before 12 week? Is this typically a bad sign? I know with other breeds eight weeks is fine to sell. When I bought my Amirah she was 9 weeks. Is this too early to ween? |

12 weeks is the age when most pups are mentally and socially ready to go out on their own. At they age they are ready to go out exploring on their own and are not as dependent on the pack. Most larger breed dog will survive when taken to a new home at 6 weeks but it is like taking an infant home. You have a baby that needs all it's bodily functions taken care of and they cry when they are alone because they are scared and uncomfortable without the pack. Really a new owner that brings home a puppy 6 to 10 weeks of age is going to have their hands full for over a month when that puppy could have spent the time with it's pack learning how to socialize and become mentally and emotionally mature. Many breeders that don't much care about these issues will sell the pups at 6 weeks of age because once the puppies start eating solid food the mom stops cleaning up after them. That means 10 times as much work dealing with a litter of puppies. If a breeder has not taken the time to have the right amount of space and the right surroundings for a growing litter of puppies they will get those pups out of there as quick as they can despite the fact that a puppy may not be ready to go out into the world yet. Yorkies tend to have more of an issue with adjusting at a young age. The breed is famous for being finicky eaters anyway. They are so small that if they are not eating well the blood sugar level will drop rapidly and it can cause death if the owner does not spot it and act quickly. I suppose I could write part of a book on this but I hope you get the idea. I don't breed dogs but I did use to work closely with a relative that did. Years ago I did show and breed Himalayan cats and believe it or not 12 weeks is the recommended age for a kitten to go to it's new home also. There are so many uninformed and uncaring breeders out there that this type of information seems to be greatly lacking to the general public. |
[QUOTE=abbey46923;4033864]yes, she was laying next to the cash register when the woman picked her up by a handle on the back of her outfit dangeling her in mid air to show how small she was. I didn't even enter her booth. This lady is there every year that i have been going to this festival and always has tiny dogs there. On a good note i LOVE this festival, but it is the last one for the year which means winter is on it's way. I ate way too much food yesterday, hubby and kids want to go back on Wed. hmm i may have to knock off work and go with them lol.[/UOTE] Yes it is the last of the festivals for us. I live close to Steam Corner, which has flea markets also. I went with 6 friends and two of us bought raw almonds and that ended up being our meal, the others bought food. I would love to go to Rockville. But it's always the same ole same ole. It's the atmosphere that's fun. If you go Wed. have fun. I wouldn't mind going back towards the end of the week. Good buys to be had then. |
I guess that could explain a lot of Amirah's ticks. The first two weeks that I had her I was on pins and needles over the food and hypoglycemia thing. I begged her to eat and hand feed her most of the time. Also I always and even still have syringes and karo syrup on hand. My room mate thought I was nuts. If she didn't eat she was getting karo. I took her to the vet after four days of owning her freaking out because she wouldn't eat. And this vet without even coming into the room said she probably had parvovirus granted I flipped out on the vet because she a had no other symptoms and b he never even saw her. I lectured him on good vetting practices for about 15 mins. And once he actually looked at her he realized he was wrong. Turns out she was homesick and picky. Yogurt has actually been my saving grace with this little girl. |
