getting a Yorkie used to a new House?? Hi everyone! My Husband, Me and My 3 year old Yorkie Mitsi recently were kicked out of Our House, (long story, some issues with My Mother ect). My Dad is letting Us stay with Him, but Mitsi seems to be missing Home a bit. Shes used to My Dads House because Shes stayed with Him for a week when We went on Our Honey Moon, and We spend at least 1 night a week here as it is. Shes Happy acting most of the time, but She follows Me all over the place when She seems anxious, and She doesnt care to eat from Her food dish in the Kitchen unless someone is in the kitchen with Her. Im sure She misses Home, since She had Lived there since She was a Puppy. any advice You could give Me would be appricated. Also She has Her bed and all of Her toys, Ive also laid out a blanket She slept on at Home, those are some things Im trying. tHANKS!! |
Hi I donīt know if this helps but I got my Yorkie wen she was 4 years old and she lived with her ex-owner all her live , she ones the mother of my dog, anyway she was looking for her owner for a week or so and just wanted to lay in front of the door all sad but after the week so was like she always lived with us i guess it just takes time for them to get settled in. |
She probably is just nervous and doesn't want you to leave her. I would just give her some time... |
just try to keep the same routine, she will get better |

Normally, it takes about 7 days or so for a dog to get used to new surroundings. You'll see it get better each day. As mentioned above, just keep a daily routine - it gives dogs a feeling of security. Mitsi will come along in time :) |
I agree with all above. It just take some time. But she will be ok |
thanks everyone. Im going to keep Her on a routine as much as possiable. where We used to Live We had no where We could take Her for walks really, but now We have an entire neighborhood to roam about so Im hoping all the walks will help |
Oh she is going to love the walks. It will be great for you both to relax some. Hugs to you both in this trying time. |
Well, I'm sure she does not understand the situation. You know you have moved but she does not know what is happening. I would spend as much time as possible with her and try to get her into a routine. Hope she starts feeling more comfortable soon. They are such creatures of habit. |
