Oh, my window kept must have cut off that last line - didn't see she's going to the vet tonight. Thank goodness going to take that little one to the vet right away! Yeah, it's pretty obvious the glucose got her perking again enough to eat. Really does sound like hypoglycemia is what is going on with the little pup but you never know from just an online description so am so glad a professional will be seeing her tonight and running some tests, getting an actual veterinary diagnosis and getting her squared away. Poor little baby is so tiny and young. Thank goodness she got that syrup in her when she did!!! Hope OP gets a chance to update tonight. |
I almost lost my Luna to hypoglycemia:eek: That baby is so tiny, she needs to be fed every 2 or 3 hours until she gets bigger. I hope that the vet was able to get her fixed up and that she will be okay:love: |
Came hoping for an update this morning. Praying your baby is doing well. |
Looking for an Update on how she is doing this morning?????????? |
Maybe by the time OP got home from vet, had to be up most night checking on the baby, go to work and find someone to watch her today and just hasn't had the time to post. I pray she made it through the night fine. |
Yorkieluvme2, please update us on how Josie is doing. We are all thinking and praying for her. |
Hi everyone, thanks for all the well wishes for Josie. It has been a long night and day. The vet found that she had Coccidia so they gave her meds for that for one week. She said that may be why shes not eating well. They gave me a special canned food that entices her to eat and I'm happy to say she ate 2 big teaspoons full. I'm just suppose to watch her good for a while and make sure that she eats. If not I have nutri cal to give her. |
So glad you took her to the Vet. I hope she feels better soon! |

With a puppy that young and that small you are going to have to watch her very closely. Clean up all her poo's and wash the area to make sure she doesn't get reinfected by walking in it. Keep her really clean. You are going to have to make sure she eats every 3 to 4 hours for a while. With the little ones you just can't take the chance of them not eating regularly. Get Nutrical and keep it for emergencies. It is a common practice for an uninformed breeder to let a puppy go at 6 to 8 weeks but tiny puppies need to stay much longer. Really all pups should but it is a matter of life and death for some. |

So glad you took her to the vet and that she will be alright. What a relief! |
Thanks everyone! I am a stay at home mom (of school age children) so I will be home with her always. She also had her second set of shots today and a dose for kennel cough. I am so relieved that they figured out what is wrong with her and that she'll be fine as long as I stay on top of her eating. |
