I noticed at 8:00 p.m. last night it was full dark outside! Seemed odd - hadn't noticed it creeping up that much till then.

I've been enjoying my hot chocolate and snuggling under a blanket, but I'm not ready for this weather to stay around yet. Although, it is getting to the temps the pups will have to wear their cute outfits. :)

I'm sure we'll have a warm up.

38 degrees here in Ohio as well. Already have a cold and dont need to get any sicker...Love this type of weather but hate bieng sisk .

Autumn my absolute fav time of year. Coolish nights, days warming up the afternoons. Best of both worlds in my opinion. I have the windows wide open, no a/c and no heat need be on!

I love the cooler weather and the fall colors.

I'm an autumn girl, too! Absolutely love it. In Texas, it is especially appreciated after some of the summers we have. I love all the open windows, that something in the air and Tibbe always starts sniffing out the window and when he goes outside when cool air starts to move in, it's as if he senses something from the far North is signaling him! Put his little nose up in the air and just sniffs away. He'll stand like that outside for a long, long time. I always say to him, "It's the Call of the Wild, Tibbe!" and he seems to acknowledge that something different is happening.

It was 39 here this morning in Mo I absolutly love it! I am so over Summer. Loving the cooler temps.

I can just imagine him with his nose in the air! Maybe he thought that after such a long hot summer that fall was never coming back!;) I cannot imagine living with that much heat for so long.
One of my kids moved to the south a few months ago. It's so opposite of how we live up here. We are inside for most of the year due to snow, ice and cold while in the south people stay inside for so many months due to extreme heat. Of course life goes on despite the weather but extremes of either type of temperature sure makes life more of a challenge.

Here in S ca it's been really, really cold these past few winters esp last yr it drop down in the low 40's many times when we went for walks in the wee morning of 3-4am. I'm not really concerned about his body since yorkies have a good amount of hair coat but what I am concerned is the feet which is exposed and I imagine gets cold like ours since they have no shoes.

Well this year I plan to buy these Non slip socks from Woodrow wear. Has anyone used these? I've bought some plain shoes but he doesn't like them at all so hopefully with these socks it's more comfortable.

Well, it's not that bad since we have good weather the whole rest of the year - the fall, winter, spring, early summer. We aren't inside all that long and we have AC in homes, buildings, cars to keep it from being bad. It's usually only really unbearable to go to daytime outdoor activities for about 2 1/2 mos. when it's very hot and humid for those wussiest of us. And no snow or days of rain to fight hardly ever. I have never shoveled or could not go about due to snow in my life. We never get cabin fever down here & are always on the go. The only people who really suffer terribly from the heat are those who might not have AC or have to work outside days in the hot sun so most of us avoid the worst of it, thankfully, going about in cooled cars to the cooled buildings, etc. But, boy, at the end of a Texas summer and the house being closed up for so long, I do get anxious for the cool weather of fall and opening up the house all around. You know what I couldn't abide is that same weather all year round like where it's always warm or always chilly/cold. No seasons to speak of and very few chilly rainy days when you can cuddle up with an afghan throw, a good book and the Yorkie, such as summer resort towns - or it's always so chilly or plain cold you can't go out & about a lot. Had a friend who lived in Alaska for 7 years and he said they basically had 2 mos. to get things done, travel about, picnic, etc., and then it was hole up indoors for the rest of a long, dark, frigid year with dangerous cold & not that much sunlight for months on end. I guess we're pretty lucky where we all live compared to some places.

That's the thing. Many in the south pay AC bills that are comparable to our heating bills. I think we do heat for more months out of the year though. My daughter is still young enough that the heat does not really bother her. She actually loves it. I lived in the south for a couple of years when I was much younger. When I came up north for a visit during the summer I felt cold in the low 80 degree temps. It was quite a shock to my body after being in high 90's for so long.

Oh, my highest bill last summer was $258.00 'cause the unit ran so much but this year, I think we topped out at $165.00, as we had a much "milder" summer (for us) and we have an AC that has a larger evaporator pan inside the cooling unit or something like that to make it suck out more humidity, use less freon - I think that's what the subcontractor called it. It's a Crane or Trane or something but the subcon dickered with it, as he did our last one which lasted 18 years. It will freeze you stiff when it does come on so it doesn't have to run very long. I'm always cold in summer here unless I keep the thermostat at 80! We don't have cathedral ceilings or rooms of mostly glass, just floor-to-ceiling windows in some rooms & a 7' X 5' window in the den, plus the house is very tight, heat efficient, with double-paned windows, so thankfully not all of us have those $1,000.00+ electric bills. My highest gas bill in the winter is never ever over $100.00 - usually $50 - $65.00 Jan., Feb., except maybe the year of the Superbowl when I think it was $112.00 during that very cold month as the gas company had to buy extra gas & hit us hard. So unless you live in one of the very large homes with a lot of glass, high ceilings, kids running in & our doors and your house is energy-efficient, costs aren't bad down here. I've really very little reason to complain but I am so ready for fall. I just love the changing seasons and love that first really true cold spell here. Everybody is so juiced up & friendly & rushing around, calling out about the weather, all out & going about - it's a party down here when we get that first cold spell - like Christmas or something!

I so agree !! I so dont like the darkness at 5 pm. But love autumn. Love the colors of the beautiful leaves . They say because we had a dry summer. The fall foliage will be spectacular !! So everyone bring a sweater and come visit lol

I can't even find the end of the depths to which I am jealous right now!! It's 101 here right now - OVER IT.
