Oh Denise,
I have been where you are, as I'm sure others here have been. None of us can tell you what to do, of course. You know your Myles better than anyone and he is relying on you as he always has. You will do your best for him- we all know that. It will hurt, but you will do what is best for Myles in the end and feel good that you were there for him.

Cherish everyday you have together. You have had 15 years with Myles more than I have ever had with any of my furrbutts. I only has 4 years with my Zoey before I lost her to tainted jerky leading to renal failure.

My prayers are with you.

Can't stop thinking of you and your pup...I sure hope you know that we all understand and feel your pain...some of us have been exactly where you are. We are all trying to offer you comfort.

We all know that wether you have your pup for a few months or 15 years, that no amount of time together is enough...the love and devotion they give to us stays with us forever...there are few things any of us can say to ease your pain right now...but know we truly understand EVERYTHING your feeling right now and only want comfort for you and your pup...I for one wish I could give you a huge hug right now...

Myles is still here I am having a difficult time making the decision to put him to rest. He is not taking his meds for the uti anymore hardly eating although he is drinking i am basically taking him out to go to the bathroom if he doesnt go in my house and i do feel like he is comfortable in his bed not in pain so thats what is stopping me from putting him to rest but if he continues to not eat i do not know how much longer i could keep him at home with us he really has no quality of life
i just tried even baby food with him he took a few licks that was it

Denise I have been thinking about you and sweet Myles. I will pray for you to know when the time is right. It's ok if it's not right now I promise I understand how you feel. I am here if you need someone to talk to.

Praying for you and your little Myles. My Heidi lived her last 3 1/2 years in chrocic kidney failure (I lost her 11 days shy of 18 years) My vet gave her sub-q fluids for 3 days after her diagnosis. He also put her on enalapril, Azodyl, liquid vitamins and a prescription canned KD food. He sent her home on sub-fluids twice a day that we later changed to 125-150cc per day. For the most part she did really well but there were times that it was tough. She went into congestive heart failure once during that time and the emergency vet wanted to euthanize her but I wouldn't let them. They put her in oxygen and gave her lasix and sedated her until my vet opened the next day. He didn't give us much hope at all but around 1 in the afternoon he called and told us to please come get her because she was barking her head off and getting so stressed (I never left her anywhere and when she was in the vet getting fluids those 3 days I would bring her in at 6am, stay with her until they closed, they would capp off her IV and we would go home and start it all again the next day) My girl was so tough and didn't want to give up. I don't believe my Heidi was in any pain until the end and that's when I had to make the most difficult decision of my life and then it tool them 3 tries before her little heart stopped beating. My Myles went to heaven today all on his own at home peacefully. It was a sad sad day for us.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Nothing can prepare us for losing one loved so dearly, but in time the memories of the love you shared will bring you more joy than the pain you are now feeling. Myles will forever be a part of your heart since love lasts forever.

I'm so sorry to read this about Myles. Even though he was elderly and sick, I know what a shock the actual final goodbye still is. You did everything possible for him and he had a wonderful life, passed on under the kindest, gentlest of circumstances. He has left a hole in your heart but love and memories help that pain ease some in time. R.I.P., Myles.
