Going to Pick out a Yorktese Puppy on Thursday.
 

They are asking $650, is this a lot or normal for a Yorkie/Maltese mix?
They have 2 tri-color and 2 blond/red ones. Does anyone else have a Yorktese, can you post pics of them??

I'm no expert on the subject, but it sounds like waaay too much for a mixed breed to me! Perhaps others will have more insight.

I must say it sounds like a really cute combination. Are you getting a male or female?

I have seen those pups go from 500-1000.
I have a yorkie/maltese mix. Ours was an accident. We have a yorkie and a maltese. They got together before we could have our little boy maltese fixed.
I have a picture of Tanner. He is adorable.

There are a couple people here who have a yorktese. They are cute. There is some pics on maltesetalk.com of two. Take a look around there if you like.

There is so much debate of what the price should be about mixed puppies. I would just say if it's what you want and it's worth it to you, go for it. Good luck and congratulations!

That does seem like a lot...but I guess it depends on which part of the country you are in. I checked the Houston Chronicle last night and if I'm not mistaken, they had AKC yorkies for $600

StaciSynder04 has a yorktese. He's so freakin cute! But I'm pretty sure she paid alot less than that for hers. I might look around a little more before I paid that much for one, unless you just absolutely fall in love! :p Which is very likely!

I didn't pay that for My pure-bred Yorkie.

I agree, I don't think you can put a price on a pet, whether it's pure breed or not. I don't think ones worth more then the other. That's a really cute combo :) . I've seen a few on puppyfind.com, they are adorable!

Yorkies in Canada go for about 1500 - 2100 dollars from a breeder! Don't know about the mix. The pictures are different than i thought...i expected a lighter yorkie than an all dark yorkie...genetics are so weird.

around here in northern california mixes like that will run about $500-$1200. like any other puppy, it depends on who you get it from. reputable breeders who certify that they have two healthy purebred parents (a puppy from a purebred maltese and a purebred yorkie, as opposed to an ignorant breeder who bred two morkie/yorktese as if they were a breed of their own), and ran what health tests they could on the mix puppy to ensure a healthy puppy free of genetic defects, will charge more than a breeder who does just the minimum like whelp the pups and that's it.

but in general, small breed dogs costs a premium around here. a purebred yorkie will run about $1200-$2500, so i personally don't think $650 for a yorktese is outrageous or high. but then again, i think $500k for a 750 sq ft one bedroom condo is a bargain around my area 'cause the going rate for that in my building is about $550-$600k depending on the view and the condition of the unit. i'm sure most ofyou will find that price outrageously high for a mere one bedroom condo, but that's just the cost of living out here.

but if i could afford another furbaby, i'd love to have a yorktese as a companion to my bunjee!

I have seen Morkies or Yortese go from 375.00 to 1800... :eek: Like any other breeder make sure they are Keeping puppy and Parents( if Both are there) in GREAT shape and healthy, :) Your going to love your new fur-baby Good luck ! :p

Yes, I was surprised to see that Tanner is black. Aren't Maltese pups white? I don't get how that + a Yorkie = black. :confused:

Here is Tanner our Yorkie/maltese. He is the sweetest little baby.
Very good natured. He is tiny, 4lbs.
He got the best of both personalities.

It is kinda weird. Gracie had 3 puppies. They all came out jet blank.
It baffled us too. Parts of him are turning a shade lighter. Almost a chocolate.
It certainly took us by surprise

Thanks for all the pictures. The breeder is the same one that we got Baxter from. I dont know a Whole lot about the Puppies yet, they were just born Dec. 2nd. I know they raise Yorkies and Maltese so i'm sure there from Purebred parents.

That's how much mixed breeds cost here in CA. Doesn't sound terrible to me...

I have a Yorktese, his name is Astro and he was $250. He will be a lot lighter then this picture I think becuase his roots area light blonde color, here is a picture of him when he was 3 months old. Good Luck, I love his little personality. What can be better than two of the best breeds mixed, :D , IMO.

ok he looks like I would think a part yorkie part maltese would look like..I just am surprised by the chocolate ones...I think they are all beautiful!!!

Finally going to get the little girl of my dreams. She's 6 mo's old and only 3 lbs. Had pictures sent to me today. Fell in love with her immediatly. Will post pic's when I get some more. Love the forum.

You fell in love with this particular pup so I dont think the price really matters at the moment.
I think 650$ is a bit too much for a mix but this little one will give you so much joy that money cant buy.

Yeah, I have decided that I would like to get a Yorkie/Maltese Mix, but I am having a little trouble justifying the price of one of them. $650 seems a little high to me as well since we only had to pay $675 for our purebred Yorkie that we got from the same breeder back in October. I have also noticed that suddenly all thier puppies that are on thier website are more expensive now then they were back in October. And in october they had free shipping, now they are charging $250 for shipping. I'm asuming that since it's getting close to Christmas they have probably raised their prices, but thats just my specuation. Are these questions I should raise with them when I meet with them on thursday or should I just give them what they want for one.

Our family just purchased a Yorktese. I researched the yorkie, maltese, and mixed breed options in our area and adjacent states for two months before purchasing. We live in MO, and the "going price" has been anywhere from $500-1500 for a Yorktese. Pure-bred yorkies run anywhere from $800-2000 (especially at Christmas-time). We have just had Ozzie for a week, but we are so pleased. This pic is one that the breeder sent to us @ 6 weeks old. We just took some pix of him this weekend...when I get a chance, I will post one. Definitely an adorable mix!!

We just purchased our Morkie here in Ontario and it cost us $650 CDN. I had a reservation with another 'breeder' in Quebec, and she is charging $799 CDN.

We have another 'breeder' in Ontario who is charging between $1200-$1500.

We pick up our little "Lennie" on Friday. I'm so excited. He is all black with a little white beard.
