People can be very cruel at times. Sorry you have gone through this. We need to have more compassion with each other because we all were at a beginning stage of learning and will continue learning. No one knows it all even though some people think they do. If we put our self in the place of the one we are downing maybe people would see things in a different light. I had someone hurt me sooooo bad on another forum years ago because I didn't go in with my first schnauzer we lost to have him put down. I have 2 granddaughters that are nurses, and a son that is a paramedic and here I am I can't stand nothing. Espically an animal suffering and more so when its mine. My dh and I both were hurting and for someone to be so hurtful at a time like that is unbelieveable. I cried for weeks but even the vet told me she did not want me to see him. So when we start to judge we need to look at the circumstances behind things. Cruelity is another thing. That is one thing I can not stand and I cannot keep my mouth shut when I see an animal being abused. But, that is a total different thing. Don't go anywhere, just keep learning and over look those that show themselves for what they are. |
I'm sorry you feel that way...here on YT you will find many opinions and some topics are HOT< HOT> HOT.....we are passionate, just remember text does not inflect tone and difference of opinion does not = bashing, attacking, bullying... Oh and I fed my poor black labs Generic dog food until they died of OLD AGE...I never knew a thing about dog food...but I will say SMALL dogs are far different and more sensitive than large dogs...USUALLY, not always... Welcome to YT, I've enjoyed your posts! Eventually you will understand this place!! |

Hmmm, I think we all forget about this whole China makes everything now thing....they make Purina? Really? |
I agree that dogs survived happily on Purina Dog Chow and Milk Bones...and I also agree that there are major differences in pet foods (ingredients) of the past and pet foods today...there are major differences in people foods (ingredients) of the past and people foods of today, too. I agree that small dogs are more susceptible...because they are smaller and able to tolerate less of the chemicals and/or toxins before becoming ill. Same with babies and children...what gives an adult a tummy ache may put an infant in ICU on life support. That said, probably most of us swing thru a drive-thru on occasion and survive the ordeal. lol No reason our pets cannot sometimes do the same until we find what they will eat that we want them to consume. I do understand the pet food issue somewhat. I've read labels and researched the ingredients. I've read the MSDS of ingredients, read patents, Medlines, and manufacturing processes. I've hunted for many, many years for clean ingredient feline and canine foods and had mine love it for a while then turn up their noses at it...or refuse to eat it at all even though it smells like something I'd smear gravy on or make a sandwich out of. Apparently, from their perspective, finding a new, clean, organic, bio-appropriate favorite meal is no big deal for Mommy to do...I went on a mission just yesterday, found some clean ingredient foods to try, researched the manufacturer, and bought a few containers. Or, maybe they just think I like a challenge. :p:D The bottom line for me is that I have not found a perfect food...only some that are less offensive ingredient-wise than others. - Cat |

I hate that people get so upset over posts, I used to on a hair forum, then I realized people have bad days, weeks, months and once you hit send, you can't take it back. I don't take it personal, it's just easier that way. Im glad you came back though :D |

LOL...! I will...I've made myself a note! :p I'd settle for something they'd reliably eat that I could find week after week, or that those who special order it for me would get and NOT put out for retail sales so I end up with less than I need for the week. Or...that the manufacturer wouldn't get bought out and cheapie up the food with crap ingredients. It's tough when you're as picky as me what is tolerable and what is not. Geesh...! :D (...and I don't know...I copied some quotes and pasted them into my post so I didn't have to type so much, and it looked like all the html got copied, too...so I whacked it all in an edit and typed really fast on my bad keyboard...:p) |

 you do fine from the posts i've seen you make. he is getting better too with his people skills. just think for a minute, then write, then read what you wrote like you were a stranger reading it... that helps me. i really like this site. i enjoy the people, and i love the collective knowledge this group (YT) has. i checked alot of sites for answers about yorkies, and this site has more than filled my needs. cinders is my 1st yorkie, and i'm less clueless than i was when i got her because of everyone here. ;) |

I love this site, but I have also noticed the bashing that goes on occasionally. I'm sorry you had to experience that here. When a newbie leaves their first message with certain words or topics in it, I cringe because I know about the firestorm of negative messages that can start. Many are well intentioned, just passionate about the yorkie breed. There should be a warning on this site not to mention things like "teacups" "teddy bear faces" "getting your puppy before 12 weeks" "breeding" "pregnant yorkie by a mystery stud" and a few others...it is like waving a red flag before a bull....:D Like I said, many are well intentioned, just passionate. By the way, I got my puppy at 11 weeks. Never told anyone before. :D Best wishes to you. Hope you stay around!:aimeeyork |

:DI almost said I think it's a man thing when I 1st posted that...but, theres a few women that do the same. |
Im sorry about the pms. I dont see anything wrong with letting someone know facts about a food though with all the recalls and problems with stuff made from China also some of the undesirable ingredients in the food so if there were posts explaining that in a calm polite manner I dont see anything wrong with that that is just informing you and not bashing |
Please don't stop using yt for learning about your Yorkie baby! I would report the pm...or at the least send one to them saying stop! I have two points to make... 1st...I love yt! But, there are some members who don't have a life except to cause drama and bully people to think like them. Some are that way because they are so passionate about their opinion and feel they are the only one that is right....others just are not that good at communicating in text. Like someone said...a lot does get lost in text ...some are just bullies. I can deal with the first two (sometimes:D)...don't give the third the power to upset me anymore..I try ! Ok..adding a point here.. Members jump on someone about what they feed their dog..aggressively ..but can you just imagine saying that to a parent who feeds their child candy or fast food? 2nd sometime as you get to know the person you overlook the aggressive post. There are a couple members who are a bit aggressive in post but I have gotten to know them and really like them so don't get upset with their post anymore. I guess I see what great people they are so I understand them. |
We even had a dog develop kidney failure and die from eating treats made from China and ITS made by purina so thats why its important to inform people its not to put you down for what you feed from most posters anyway I know some take it too far and if they did theres no reason for that |

Oh I agree... but giving FACTS and being judgmental because someone does not have the same opinion or reacts to the information presented as you is two different things. (not saying you are that way.. I think you mostly state facts and move on) |
:aimeeyork 1st thing I check is where any dog food products are made, then ingredients, and I then pray that its safe and won't show up on a recall list as I buy it. All we can do as owners is stay informed...(read and research) then do what we think is best. I'm gonna add pray into that list! lol... so many dog foods turn up on a recall list... it's all you can do sometimes.:aimeeyork |

I love the passion here, but I hate seeing that passion evolve into righteousness - that's when people are hurt, opinions suddenly become fact, and everyone is right...what a sorry battle, ya know? I do think it's important and valid for members to share their opinion about foods, ingredients or whatnot - but I think we'd all hope that it'd be done in a manner that doesn't push others away. If Purina is your choice and your kiddo does great on it - then there ya go. Sure, people might post their thoughts/opinions on that food (this being a forum) - but you're 100% correct when you say above that you shouldn't "get a lashing" over it. When I was a new yorkie Mama...geez...I was such an ignoramus - and I'm an animal person ! But I hadn't had a dog in years...I'd had cats for some years prior to getting my Wylie. I didn't know what the heck I was doing, and probably asked the dumbest questions...but I was lucky, most people were very kind to me. When people weren't kind to me (I too had PM attacks), it hurt. We were all "new" to yorkies at one time...I don't know how we forget that, but it seems to happen here sometimes. Anyway, please know that the good far outweighs the bad here. There are so many members who *will* treat you w/ respect and kindness, and offer the kind of support you're hoping for. If someone offers you the opposite of what you're hoping for...don't let them reel you in, don't let them get under your skin -- just let it roll off and move on to the people you feel right with :). Thanks for sharing this! |
