Am I the only one? Hiya, I'm just curious if I am the only one here that refuses to put bows in their Yorkies hair? Ok I'll admit I did buy her a little pink hoodie that says puppy angel on it but I draw the lines at a bow! Don't woory her hair is trimmed around the eyes, I'm aware of that. I love my yorkie to death but the bow thing... sorry I can't bring myself to do it. I'm a 5'11", 185 pound guy and I just can't put a bow in my dogs hair! Please tell me I have some sympathy here  |
Im 5'7 female, and I dont put bows in my dogs hair either! They dont like them, plus they would eat them if they could! They love sweaters though! ;) |
I tried putting a bow in Buddy'd hair...once. He did not care for it at all. So I just keep the hair trimmed around BUddy & Jake's eyes. Besides, they are boys. |
I'm a girl, and I don't like bows on Yorkies either. Otis has a puppy cut and he wears a spinner cap like in my avatar. |
Gosh! Harbinger...Your Yorkie and her attire is all up to you. If you don't see a bow then so be it, I am sure your Yorkie is much loved just the same. Of course I am a fan of bows, but I don't use them daily on Schatzie, just 95% of the time. But I admit, If I was out with Schatzie on a non-hair bow day and someone came up to me and said something unkind like "heah, Yorkie's are to have bows in their hair", Id probably slap them! :D |
My husband doesn't like the bows either. Hes outnumbered though since there is myself and our daughter in the house. We just put them in when hes not around. That way theres no complaining about the dog lookin' too girlie. |
The 1st time I put a bow on Luigi, my hubby had a fit. Of course, it was red and had hearts on it, so I didn't blame him for being a little upset. So we compromised and I told him that if I did put a bow on him, that it would be a more masculine bow!!! So I ordered him lots of sports teams bows!!! And lots of boyish color bows too!!!! :) :) :) |
dont put them in toby's hair either./ my fiance would kill me if i tried :p |

(for those that don't know the NHL is in a lockout by the owners and the season cancelled) |
I put a blue latex type thing in Stewie's hair before my boyfriend came home (not a bow, just a band... and a BLUE band at that) and he flipped. He said "do not ever ever put a boy in my son's hair again!" haha! I'll admit it. I just wanted to get a reaction. I am not a fan of bows, but they look sweet on special occassions I think. |
Maybe if I had a girl, but I don't want bows in Frankie's hair. I want him to look scruffy and boyish. |
We're really missing the NHL this year too. We are big time hockey fans. Our son used to play on a traveling team. Unfortunately we never got to Toronto although we've been to everywhere else it seems. |
I'm a girl and my boyfriend thinks that putting a bow in my little boy pups hair takes away from his masculinity! I totally agree. |
Hey, I don't have my Yorkie yet but I don't think I would put a bow in his/her hair... Also, I'm upset about no hockey being from NYC where I have 3 teams (albeit boring ones) that are not playing... |
There is no such a thing as taking masculinity away from male dogs with bows...if it had, what about neutering? It is a personal choice...my Mojo always has a topnot, maybe even litte cute blue or black bows...and he is not less of a male because of that. When i have a female she will also use bows, i wanna keep them with a full coat and i think it would look kind of stupid having everything but the hair on the head long...and if you ask me the mullet haircut does not look good on Mojo (been there, done that) But that is just me, it doesn;t make the dogs less of a male or less than a yorkie to have bows. That is a human preference and it is up to us to choose.:D |
My Patrick doesn't mind bows or frilly things on Toto [girl]. He carries her around like she is pure gold regardless of her appearance! :) |
Schatzies Mama: Where do you get your bows? |
Pro-Bows My Milo is a boy. I put bows in his hair everyday. I think the other dogs make fun of him. I made him kinda fem. He doesn't seem to mind, my hubby knows I'm crazy. |
I placed a bow in my Angel’s hair one time. I was at a dog walk benefit to help raise money for a local dog shelter. There was a contest to see whose dog look more like their owner. I entered my seven-year-old daughter in the contest. She had her hair pulled up in a ponytail with a bow, and Angel had the same colored bow on HIS hair. They both looked so cute. Unfortunately, a bulldog :thumbdown and his owner won first place, and my daughter came in second. |
I LOVE :heart to  :heart to the bows on the dogs heads! I don't know if I would do it if I had a boy puppy. But, with Sophie....it is all about the girlie stuff! Oh, she does have a couple of hoodies that are for football and basketball! That way, my son can be proud of her when she goes to his games! :aimeeyork |

Thanks for asking. :p |
Haha! This is is supposed to be an "I don't put bows in my yorkies hair thread" and here we are trading info on where to get bows! :p I wub this place..... :) |
Yep sure thing Harbinger....See how you bring out all the conversation is us Yorkie lovers! :D Since you are not a real fan of bows? How do you like the scarfs that can be worn around the Yorkie's neck? I think those are cute!! So festive!! :p |
Oops double post! |
LOL the groomer at the daycare did that to Sheila. I took it off when I got home! I love her sooo much but I wont do scarves or bows. Cute outfits are ok. A girl needs to dress for the cold...... I want my yorkie to be a "dog" and it makes me and her sad that I can't let her play with other puppies and dogs because she is so small. There are a few other dogs at her daycare she can play a bit with (gentle dogs...a setter and a great dane..lol) but they are afraid to put her in with the other puppies because they may hurt her playing. She is less than 2 pounds at 13 weeks but she doesn't know that :) She thinks she's a monster! OMG to see her in the play position (rear raised front paws down and a little bark) with a 75 pound great dane puppy is pricleless! The dane is amazing, she'll play with Shiela but wont hurt her...... it's like she knows how delicate my baby is. I'm hoping to join a toy club in Toronto so she can have some friends. *EDIT* I've had Setters (English) and they are the most gentle breed you could ever have. Wonderfull dogs. Yorkies, SLH Dachsies and English Setters are my love and I hope to own all 3 at once at some point in my life. |
Harbinger-- We too are hockey fans!!! So upset by the lockout!! Hey did you see the cute hockey jerseys for our babies? They are the cutest. So we ordered Luigi a couple. They also have them for baseball, football and basketball!!! I can't remember the site of hand but as soon as I look it up again, I'll be sure to post the web site. We got him a Lemieux 66 jersey!!! He looks so adorable. We also got him a yellow and black bow to match!!! :) :) :) :) The pet company specialty dog apparel and jerseys Doggie nation These are 2 great sites for sports stuff for our babies!!! |
To Bow or not to Bow I have purchased bows to put in Lacy's hair but the very first one I put in her hair she pulled out and tried to chew it apart. I am not sure whether I am going to be one to keep Lacy's hair long around the eyes. She has already got a puppy cut for the summer. She was just FAR to HOT. PLUS my hubby does not like those bows in Lacy's hair either. Nikki |
I don't put bows in my Yorkies hair because their hair is too short. But I would if it was longer, on my girl anyway, I'm not sure about my boy. I think bows are so cute. My husband would kill me if he saw a bow on his boy. haha |
Seth had a topknot with a bow ONCE, Jack saw it and said the other dogs will talk about him:rolleyes: Jack said he is my little man soooooo..I have Sasha and her hair is not long enough yet (go figure boy long hair girl short hair) Bows are a personal choice and lets face it our babies:D are beautiful with or without. :D |
I don't mind bows on boys or girls...I think they're sooooo cute! Hopefully my little boy will get used to them... |
