Need Advice.. Craigslist Yorkie A friend of mine messaged me about this female yorkie on craigslist. The lady said that she bought her in SC for $700 and that she is pregnant (but the vet couldn't find puppies). She does not know anything about her past and is having money issues. I'm worried about just anybody getting this baby. She is asking $475 for her. She is almost one and a half apparently. What would you do? |
Contact her and ask for pictures. |
And ask lots of questions. |
1 Attachment(s) I have attached the picture she had. I asked her what she knew about her past, she said she knew nothing besides that the lady gave her the parents CKC number. She said she had just got her and took her to the vet and she received a rabies shot. She said the vet did not see any puppies but that it could be too early to tell. I asked about her being bred and she said the previous owner said she was bred to a 5lb yorkie. She knows nothing about her being bred, if she's pregnant, or anything beyond the fact that she just had a rabies shot. She said she gets along with other dogs, but cannot make rent and needs money. I'm not really looking another yorkie at the moment, but I am scared that this poor baby will go to a home and not get medical care or anything. |

I know! She's precious! I can't get her off my mind. But, I know NOTHING about having a dog that could possibly be pregnant. |

Not far from me, in NC. I'm so tempted to go and get her, but i'm not a breeder. If she is pregnant, I wouldn't have a CLUE what to do. |
Here is her response about why she thinks she is def. pregnant. "I just took her to the vet Aug. 1st (and I have record of it) She is very clingy and loving, She doesnt eat a lot, exhausting and will sleep or rest more than normal, her vulva is still swollen, and nipple growth" |
She was bred 3 weeks ago. |
I would take my chances. Your saving a baby that needs a loving home, health and trust me, you wouldn't even regret it once they show how much they love you. My dogs are all spoiled. They get the best of everything and what do they give me in return? Their loyalty, love and companionship. I have no limit on anything for my dogs and If I could, I would rescue all of the other poor babies out there..=) |
I just want to warn you that there are A LOT of craiglist scams out there involving dogs, and do not give the lady any money until you see the dog in person. I hope it's legit, but my mother responded to a craigslist ad about someone rehoming her Yorkie and I made her stop contacting the person because I was convinced it was a scam. |
I would try and get her and then turn her over to a rescue group. |
I'm just worried about her actually being pregnant. I loved Bri's breeder, but we moved away over a year ago and I cannot go to her. I do not know anybody around here who breeds either. Is there a site I could get advice? |
