So Angry , They got too busy ! We just got a puppy back. When this puppy went to his 'forever' home he was 12 weeks old a sweet smelling ball of fur. What we got back was a matted, flea infested, worm ridden puppy ! I am so upset. We screen people and have a very nosey adoption application. People are given a detailed booklet about puppy care, and training. When I ask why they were returning the puppy, they said, " Oh it was too hard, we don't have time to do all that stuff." I raised my eyebrow and inclined my head, so they would explain, "you know, the brushing it, cleaning up pee, walking it and stuff. We are just too busy and we want a refund." I am so angry. He is going home with me. Now we have to find another home for this little guy after, the Vet, and groomer. It will take some TLC. Sorry just had to vent ! :( |
Poor baby! |
Omgosh how ignorant!!! What did they think a puppy required? I don't blame you for being angry. I am glad they returned him so he can be in a home with the love and attention that he deserves. |
oh that is horrible...sorry you have to clean the mess they made of the poor lil baby. some people just dont get it. glad you took him back though sounds like he had a rough time of it for that short period imagine a year later. yikes. |
How could anyone not have time for a precious little fur baby? What jerks! |
That is really sad- Look at it this way they did the right thing and brought him back to you- I don't understand people these days... I look at Peanut every day and wonder how can someone WANT to hurt these precious little angels- Granted Peanut has his bad days where I want to strangle the lil terd, but then Daddy will tell Peanut to go apologize to Mommy, and that is what he does. He will come sit and me give me the Yorkie Look and start kissing me and all is forgiven! I'm sure once you nurse this lil guy back he wont remember what those awful people did! |
Oh wow. I just can't believe some people. Thank God they brought him back to you though. |
I hope you don't give them a refund! If they give you a hard time about the refund I would threaten to report them for animal cruelty...they can go to jail for that. |
If you are considering a refund, can you deduct grooming, vet visit and meds? That just stinks! |
Poor baby! Hope he recovers from that trauma quickly. He must have been neglected. Some people just see a doll and not living & breathing life! It's frustrating. BTW, I'm looking for a companion for my Lucy. Would you consider a re-home in NJ? Lucy just spent 4 days with her breeder while we travelled to Chicago (for business - no pups allowed.) He said he thought we were one of the best most loving families he's seen. Well, enough patting myself on my own back...:p Tracey |
It is awful they are too busy to give basic care but the best thing that you got him back before they could neglect him further |
I FEEL YOUR ANGER AND PAIN!!!! We sit and spend hours, interviewing, assessing, questioning, giving information, telephone conversations....and everyonce in a while, "one" slips by us.....happens to all of us, fortunately, I havent had that yet....I have one steal the puppy, driving a brand new BMW, 3 piece suit, cool sunglasses, the whole outfit, and then paid me with a worthless stolen/forged money order.......had one buy a puppy, went to the vet, who told him the puppy was a silky (this was NOT a large baby, had a silky coat, has a pedigree to die for) and this idiot calls me and tells me I LIED AND THE DOG I SOLD HIM IS A SILKY! He was shown the registration papers on both parents, and the litter registration papers...(I send the registration papers when they spay neuter the dog) plus I show them the 3 generation pedigree from AKC....so when he sent me the receipt from his vet that the dog had been spayed, the vet had filled in "Breed: SILKY"....I contacted my lawyer and she told me he did niot provide me a receipt that the dog I HAD SOLD HIM had been spayed....inform him to send a spay receipt for the dog I sold him, a Yorkie, and then send him the registration papers as per my contract. AKC agreed...... So I know how you feel...all the effort you put into educating these people, and the information went in one ear and out the other one. How long did they have the puppy? By the time you deduct the vet bills and grooming bills, (as well as the isolation fee at a boarding facility it costs you to isolate that baby for at least 2 weeks before you "contaminate" your other dogs), required to get that puppy back into the condition it was in when they got it from you, THEY will not only NOT get a refund, they will OWE YOU more money. |
Poor puppy. I will keep the little guy in my prayers. |
Some people should not own dogs. They should adopt a goldfish |
Poor little guy...that is just rediculous. He's going to need a lot o TLC !! Im curious if you gave them a full refund? What do you do in this type of situation? If it were me.... I would not have. They would get half now and the remaining refunded of what was left over after...this little guy has been to the Vet for a full work over, gotten de wormed, up to date shots and only after he has been re homed to a more suitable family. Not sure what is the legal and proper thing to do when something like this happens! |
Ah geez:mad: Those people should just buy a stuffed toy Yorkie! I hope the little guy finds a new home when he's ready. Well, shoot, I'm sure he will!!! |

That is sad but honestly I am glad the people surrendered him back to the rescue (like most require). To let a dog get into that condition is just a sign to me that not a lot thought went to them decision to adopt. I look forward to your posting that the puppy is healthy, happy and in his new forever home. |
I'm sorry, I never knew that this has ever happened...makes you wonder what were they thinking. |
More of the story. Some of you PMed me asking if one of my dogs had pups. NO way, mine are all pets. I rescued the parents from an elderly back yard breeder. The lady broke her hip and went in a nursing home. Her Daughter sold me the '[IBreeding Pair'[/I] (You all know I work with rescues and fosters.) The female was very preg. The vet thought we should let her whelp. (she did 2 days after I got her !) She had 4 pups( 2 girls and 2 boys). We think The Mama dog was about 5 or 6 years old and right at 7 pounds, the male was younger maybe 2 years old and tiny about 4 pounds and he was fat LOL. Other than being being very fat for such little Yorkies and needing dentals they were in good shape. After they were spayed and neutered we found good homes for the adults. Mama stayed with pups until they were 12 weeks old. Then We adopted the pups at 12 weeks the adoption fee was $500 and included micro chip and spay/or neuter at 6 mo.s. There is no doubt in my mind the dogs are purebred Yorkies, The parents were ( a breeding pair sigh.....) but we did not witness the breeding, so there was no way to honestly register the puppies. Anyway..... The people got back their money, that way they are more likely to bring the dog back to us. I just got him bathed and shaved down, he is very sweet. Off to the Vet at 2:30 for now we are calling him Karlin which is Galelic for Little Champ. To the ones who asked about shipping we can't afford to do that. I will try to post some pics of him later. |
Poor baby. I hope he finds a loving home. |
Maybe they were hoping he was battery operated. Quote:

Oh no I am so very sorry this happened. At least the little one is where he will taken care of now. Bless his little heart. |
So how old is the little guy now? This whole small dog fad just makes me sick. If I hear Animal Planet encourage people to buy a small dog one more time I may have to tell the grand kids we are not watching anymore.:thumbdown People who have never owned a dog suddenly think they can be dog owners because the dog is small and after all it will be cute to carry around! They have no idea that those cute little dogs they see on TV have had hours and hours of training and care so they look and act that way. Ignorance seems to be contagious these days.:( |
 I can\'t help but wonder what they thought the Yorkie would do about pottying if no one was willing to take him out? Did they expect him to use the \'big potty\' same as themselves? Did they expect him to comb his own hair and shower regularly by himself? Or did they selfishly expect that no effort on their part was required...maybe because he was...a dog... Even little tiny dogs are still...well...dogs, and require care. Of course, that human must "care" to begin with, and continuing throughout his/her life or the baby ends up...like...this poor baby! I am so sorry the Karlin ended up with selfish people who just happened to produce correct answers to your questions...the ones that were designed to weed out people like...err...them. |
People see a beautiful, well mannered yorkie and think they are born that way. When they have to work on it, its too much for them. I see that on rehoming ads, we don\'t have time. Translates to: its bigger than I thought, it eats, poops and needs me. So sad. glad they brought him back. |
Up Date Up date on Karlin. I wanted to thank every one for the kind comments and caring hugs. Yes, he has tape worms, which is being treated. Other worms were negative. My vet said he is perfectly healthy. Weight 3 lbs 5 oz. Groomer shaved back and tummy but saved fur on face and legs. He looks weird but, cute. Sorry I still can\'t figure how to post pictures from my phone. He is sleeping on my lap, Aw.. Karlin you are going to make someone very, very happy. |
That poor baby. :(. At least you will get him back in good shape. Hope he finds his furever home soon. |
I can understand your frustration, but be thankful this family returned this lovely little boy and not in the best condition, but conditions that can be corrected. I\'m sure you will find a loving home for little Karlin - love his name and can\'t wait to see pictures of him. |
I know you had to be very angry to see him in that condition. It\'s a good thing they brought him back to you. Better that than Craig\'s List. He\'s probably very happy to be back home again. He must have been miserable. |
