Raley loves carrots! He favors cooked carrots but will eat small, chopped pieces of raw carrots too! |
I am OCD....but I can promise you....if I gave any of mine a whole carrot, especially a baby carrot, they would be chocking to death before I could get the bag closed and back in the fridge! I wouldnt do this on a million dollar bet! BULLY STICKS ARE SUPER FOR THIS!!!! |

I think people and dogs can choke on anything if they try to eat too big a piece or eat too quickly. That being said, mine love carrots, celery, apple, sweet potato (yams) green beans, purple cabbage, green peas, brocoli, cauliflower, squash, all of these raw, steamed and dehydrated. |
My lil one loves baby carrots and I am lucky enough to get small bags (about 9/10 carrots from my school....she will get one every other night when I get home as a treat....she also loves peas too...I just tried freezing a jar of baby food carrots for her in my little silicone bone shaped ice cube tray and she likes those also....another member had suggested buying the frozen crinkle cut carrots and that way you can pull out what you need to defrost for treats....As soon as I finish off these frozen baby food carrots I have a jar of sweet potatoes that I am going to try to see if she likes those....When she was a puppy I tried fresh sweet potatoes and she didn't like it at all...so now that she is a big girl and her taste buds have matured we are going to give it another go..... :xfingers: :xfingers: |
All of my girls love baby carrots and it always seems to agree with them too!:D |

I agree about the choking risk with baby carrots. I have always chopped them up for Gracie. I can see how a cold carrot might sound good for teething but I would not give a whole baby carrot to a puppy or small Yorkie. Maybe peel a larger carrot and let him have it. It would be really easy for a baby carrot to get lodged sideways in the throat. |
