As she gets older will her hair thicken up or will it always be like this? It's not so bad that I think she has a condition, no odours and yeast (yet). | You are describing a typical Yorkie coat. A Yorkie has "hair" rather than typical fur. They have no under coat as most dogs do and the hair grows much like human hair in that it just keeps growing. They do not shed like a typical dog. Because there is no undercoat the Yorkie does tend to get cold very easily. (Of course with the kind of summer we are having you would probably not notice how they get cold so easily)
I never put clothing on a dog in my life until I got Gracie. She was always curling up in my lap or wrapping herself around a cat during her first winter. We have heat in our home but being that she was so close to the floor she would get chilled very easily.
Your pup may get a bit of a thicker coat as it gets it's adult coat but more than likely it will not be thick. If you let it grow out it will part down the back and continue to grow long. If you don't want to have to deal with daily grooming you may have a groomer cut down the coat but you are going to have to deal with keeping that little one warm when the temp drops. |
