Acana Duck and Pear Well the Duck and Pear didnt work for us- Peanut is an itchy mess on this food. I know it is because the oats and grains. Now I have a 5lb bag of food that I can not use- I was thinking of donating it, but then I thought I would come on here to see if anyone close to me uses this food and would like to come pick it up. I am in Riverside Ca. Let me know, I might be willing to ship it as well, depends on how far you are  |
It can't be any other grains... there is only one (oats). But sorry it didn't work out for Peanut man! :( Jackson does great on it... we're rotating back in the grain-frees right now though and he's doing awesome on it too. Grasslands right now. I'm so disappointed that the bags are getting smaller though and the price is staying the same. :( I may just stock up on a few bags now... the formula is changing a little bit. |
The store I buy food from will refund your money if the dog does not like it or has a reaction. Did you get the food from a pet food supply store? |

wow, that is strange but good. i guess you will have to keep him on that . some dogs just dont do well with a diet change. |
Sounds like you need to stick with the grain free formulas. Good luck getting Peanut back to normal. |

Although Acana is a really good grain free they use quite a bit of white potato in their products. They are using it as a replacement for grains but it is an allergen to some animals and is not easily digested either. It also can raise the glucose levels in the blood stream. I wish they would change to sweet potato instead as it is totally different in it nutritional value and it's glycemic index. |

they do well on a raw diet. it is kinda hard cause you dont really know what he is allergic to. you will just have to wing it and keep trying till you find one that agrees with him |
They have lots of potato in their grain-free varieties too which Peanut didn't seem to have a problem with, so it's probably not potato. But I do agree that I wish more foods would stop using so much potato. :\ Acana's new formulas have moved potato down much further on the ingredient list and now use peas and lentils which I *think* will be a good thing. |
