Lilo Kahlua is finally a therapy/agility dog and i cant be prouder... she took her test this weekend and passed with flying colors. The tester said she was amazing and was the most focused dog she has ever met. She also said she broke all the litttle dog stereotypes and was amazed at how trained she was. we even did a little trick performance for all the people who were there and the crowd went wild.. im so happy that our number 1 goal came true. our next goal is to make as many people happy as possible. on another note she also started her first agility class today (she took a try out run and was immediately placed in the intermediate class) and her time for the course beat all the other dogs and she was the smallest one there. :D the instructor was joking how all the big dogs were beat by a smaller dog who was running with a pink bow and pearl necklace. She sure surprised everyone. :) she turned one last monday.. and we're already having such a fun 2nd year... I can already tell its the start of many new adventures for us... i cant wait to post videos of all the new tricks shes learned plus agility |
3 Attachment(s) first pic is of her in her vsst 2nd is of her in her pearls :) 3rd is of her cgc path and new therapy vest |
Congratulations Lilo! Oh yeah...and mommy too. ;) You are one smart cookie. I had no doubt that you could do it. :) You show the big dogs how the little ones do it. ;) |
I'm glad she has maintained her sense of style even though she is now an official working girl!:) Congratulations to you and little Lilo. I have to say I would be afraid to have her out there with all those big dogs in the agility class. I hope they don't decide she is a tasty treat to play with!:confused: |
Way to go Lilo....WOOOHOOOO! |
Go Lilo! She is one awesome little dog. I love that she proves that Yorkies, even small ones, can do anything! Woohoo! So many people are afraid to let their little ones do things and this just proves it's totally possible. I can't wait to see her rock agility! |

Way to go! I don't know if it's practical to do agility wearing clothes, but I found out by walking my girl in a brightly colored dress that the bigger dogs in the neighborhood looked really confused when they saw her... they usually see her as a rabbit! |
Lilo, you are one amazing girl:D, and your Mommy is exceptional as well! GOOD JOB:love:!!!!! |
wow!!! Congrats!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: |
I'm so happy for both of you, congrats Lilo, you go girl. |

Way to go Lilo...congratulations! |
Congrats Lilo! Way to go. You will love therapy dog work. It is very rewarding. Heidi and i have been doing it for a year and a half. I also wanted to take agility but our training center requires that you take novice 2 obedience first and the class was filled last go round. She's 3 yrs now though & getting to be a good couch potato, so i hope we can still do it. They are so much fun aren't they! |
I just love that Lilo is so Fabulous! Yet still finds time to give back to her community! You Go Lilo:) |

Great job Lilo!! You are one smart cookie :D |
yeah Lilo, you are such a cute little smart cookie and congrats to mom, all the hard work is paying off. I have to agree with the gal that said she was one of the most focused dogs she has seen. I thought that when I watched the video of her when one of her friends came over to play. The other dog was all over the place but you could see Lilo, would have nothing to do with the dog, she just went through the course like no other dog was around, it was almost like she was thinking you silly dog get out of my way so I can do this right. I show that video to a lot of my friends to prove how well some little dogs can focus and take direction. Perhaps you could post that video here so people know what I mean. |
Congratulations! How did you get started with therapy training? I want to do that with Lucy. Did you go through the AKC? We have private companies that do the training here - but it's very expensive. Thanks. Tracey |
Whoo hoo!! Go Lilo!!! Accomplished so much in so little time! So proud of you! |

Ive been training LILO myself for a very long time now. We tested for her CGC first when she was 6 months old and then wait to take her therapy test because you can take it only after they turn 1, so we scheduled it a few days after her birthday. The akc doesn't really have a training program but they have started a program where you can earn an AKC therapy dog title after completing 50 visits. (that's LILO's next goal.) We decided to register and test with therapy dogs international but you can look local therap dog organizations near you online since each hospital accepts different registrations. You should also take the CGC first since it helps a lot with the preparation for the therapy test you can learn more about the akc here American Kennel Club - AKC Therapy Dog Program And here are some general things you can train for http://www.tdi-dog.org/images/TestingBrochure.pdf Good luck! |

How long did it take you to train Lilo? I'm working on "sit" and can't seem to get Lucy to do it. She gets board with the process and just walks away - no matter what the treat! I've watched instructional videos over and over and nothing is working. Oh well, Lilo looks fantastic, however. Best wishes, Tracey |
