Heard from Craigslist Scammer This is what was in my spam folder today....Right where it belongs. "Please provide me more information abt you and your family. I have grown very attached to these puppies which is why I havent listed them for sell until now. I have posted pictures to the craigslist ad I feel I owe them a good home. Thanks. " This is what they sent. LOL Sure I'll send more info on my family: I'm a police officer in Jacksonville and ex marine just looking for a small puppy to love. LOL Not true of course. Of course I'm not answering anything. |
There is a Dalla Roberts on Facebook from Jacksonville but I can't open it because I don't do Facebook. Thats what the email address said. |

Other than the fact that they did not respond to you right away what info did you obtain that this is a scam? I know it is an unusually low price but if they really do want good homes then there is a chance they are real. Just send them info that you are a previous Yorkie owner that is heartbroken at the loss of your pet and looking for a new Yorkie to love. Tell them general things about how you take wonderful care of your pets, etc. but don't tell them where you live or any exact info and see what you get back. Of course tell them that you would love to see the puppies in a public location along with your "husband" or some other person you would bring with you so you warn them that you will not be alone. Don't get your hopes up to a high level but it would be interesting to see what they say. They can't trace you through the craigslist email address. |
A couple of year ago there were 2 FREE yorkie puppies in our local paper...(I knew it was a scam)...So I called them...they wanted me to send them $500.00, western union,.,.of course, to pay for the shipping. I told them that they were horrible people for doing this and what kind of a fool did I they think I was! And that they should get arrested for what they are doing! They hung up on me...Sad part is some people would fall for this. I don't know how these people can get away with this and why they can't get caught! |
I happen to be one of the some people who fell for an overseas puppy scam and it cost me $3700 to wise up. The only good thing that happened is that had it not been for this I never would have thought about buying a yorkie and that's how we got Zach the love of our lives. I would never buy anything from the internet anymore unless it was a known place. Never Never a pet |

None of this screams scam to me. It's possible, but who knows. Maybe they will provide a phone number? Then you could talk to them and also be certain they were local? |

At first I thought this was one of those oversea scam sorts of things, but now I don't think so. I have Facebook, it's kind of handy for this sort of thing, and you don't have to list your real name, you can list your Yorkietalk name. Anyway, I think the Dalla Roberts might be a real person who is selling the dogs. She has pictures of Yorkies in her profile, although she calls them "pom puppies", in her ad she called them Yorkies, but adds they are "furry". Here's a picture of the dogs, Attachment 372134. Since she said they didn't have papers and their tails weren't docked, my guess is she's not really a true breeder and her dog just got pregnant. Here's another picture in her album. Attachment 372135, not sure why that picture is there, but if that's her neigborhood, I'd stay away. |
Ha Love the car photo. Thanks for looking it up on Facebook for me. Maybe they're a mix Yorkie/Pom. |

I looked at the facebook. It is set to private so I can't see a lot, but this is what I can see. The profile pic is of a family of four. Nice picture. There are also pics of 6 puppys which by the looks of them are yorkies. Possibly not a scam. |
Correction. On a closer look I can go far enough to read the captions on the pics. Some of the pups are poms and some are yorkies. The yorkies in the pics are a male and female the pic taken at 1 month old. |
Thanks for checking that out for me. I emailed the person back, general info, requested her vets name, didn't leave my full name or phone number, told her I was a previous Yorkie owner. Asked if she had the parents and what kind of dog they are.(maybe a mix?) Trying not to get my hopes up. Tomorrow is a huge 600 animal adoption event downtown, and I was going to go look there also. |
Too funny...some bullets are nicer when dodged! :p It's curious that the quality of the photos differs significantly, and what the purpose of the 'mailbox pup' photo was. They do not look 5 months old to me in those photos...I could be wrong...but if you really are looking to re-home, sell...whatever, why not put up a current photo. I also don't understand the car...lol I hope soon you find the new Yorkie baby you seek. |
I hope it works out for you if it's the pup you want. Keep us updated. |
Saw her photo on Pinterest when I googled it also. I just don't know...I know I will find the right pup one day. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. |

Ok so maybe not a scammer but possibly a byb. She emailed me a long email sayng she has two females and one male and only lets them have pups for two litters and then has them fixed. SO the one male is the daddy of the female who had the pup and the puppies father also. She said she takes them to a vet but when I looked it up it was like a free clinic. She said she would have the 6 month shots done and a vet certificate. Said the mom had 4 pups and one got injured by a guest so she is keeping one female and has the male and female to sell. They are reduced from 400 because they are older. SHe said I could see the parents if I would like to but I'mnot going to someones house. Any more thoughts? |

I would run from this situation. |
I think I would pass on this. It sounds like some out of control breeding going on there. That is too much inbreeding that can result in some bad genetic problems. The poor creatures. What fools some people can be! What an awful thing to do to those dogs.:( Father to daughter breeding! |

I think you do look on petfinder, don't you? |
Yes there are two yorkies in ST Augustine but the phone number isn't being answered and I've emailed them three times. Maybe today at the adoption event. Think good thoughts.... |
