| ![]() Exactly. Either someone jumped on the ad or it was a scam. If you really want to find a Yorkie on CL, you'll need to check pets constantly during the day. Being the 1st to respond to the ad usually has it's merit with the current owner. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() I just read our Phoenix craigslist, some ads do seem legitimate, especially when they have a picture and a reason for the rehoming. Some ads are breeders trying to sell 8 week old yorkies, and I would never support that type of breeder, but this ad, for example, looks real, the woman had a new baby. Here's the ad, he's so adorable. adopt yorkie puppy 6months old. Any AZ people who need a yorkie, even has an insurance policy!

| ![]() I do think a person has to be really dedicated to take on a Craigs List re-homed puppy - even if the price is right. Maybe it's no different than a shelter adoption. However, when I see listings for $600+++ to re-home a dog or puppy, I just feel a little disconcerted. From a shelter, at least a pup has been somewhat evaluated and there's probably a professional determination of whether the dog was mishandled/abused/neglected. And the money paid supports the shelter and not an individual. When people give up on a puppy so readily - and then want most if not all of their costs back - I begin to think that they see the whole thing as a commodity exchange. I start to think about the present owner's character in general and I'm bothered. If ever I had to give up my Lucy - G-d forbid! - I wouldn't be thinking about what I could make/recoup off her. I haven't had her very long but I love her and so do my children. I'd really just want the best home for her. What I already expended financially is, frankly IMHO, water under the bridge (and golly, I'm not looking at the CC bills this month!!!! Lucy's already acquired a lot of stuff. ![]() So, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth to see these listings - people complaining of allergies/landlords/new babies - whatever - to off a young yorkie. And that also makes me think that there may be something else going on that's not being disclosed. It's so off putting to me! I don't know. Maybe I'm just too skeptical. OK, I'll step down from my soap box now. Tracey |

| ![]() I found my little zoey on Craigslist! If they are local and in your town swing by and visit them make sure the parents are on site so you an see them! If you can't go see the puppy in person Then forget about it. It could be a scam or could not, you never know unless you actually see the dog! Good luck (: |

| ![]() I suppose it is not an impossibility to find a good dog on craigs list. There are so many economic problems going on right now in this country that dogs are losing their homes at a record level. As people lose their homes so do their pets. Of course there are always the people who think they want a cute little fashion statement dog and then find that they actually have to do stuff for the dog so they re home the poor thing. Craigs list is the fee ad board. It attracts all kinds. Here is a link to the AKC site. American Kennel Club - Club Search and Directory There are several breed conformation clubs in Florida but I did not see one right in Jacksonville. Years ago I purchased a little Maltese from a show/breeder in Jacksonville. The puppy was going to be shown but her nose color was not quite what it needed to be to be a winner. These clubs usually have breeder contact people to write to and they will let you know about any reputable breeders that they know of. You can also go to the YTCA website and contact Florida breeders listed on that site. Even if one person does not have puppies they might know another breeder that does. It takes some searching. Check pet finder . com. |

Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | ![]() The yorkie doesn't have to be show perfect, I just need another baby to love. Thanks for the links. Now I am trying to decide if I should drop the hold on the schnauzer, my heart is leaning towards yes. It wouldn't be fair to settle for a dog if I have second thoughts. The people at the shelter will think I'm nuts. |

| ![]() If you really want a Yorkie you should wait and find one. These show breeders always sell pet quality puppies. They are lucky to get one really good show quality puppy in a litter. Sometimes when they are going to retire a breeding female they may sell it to a pet home and some of thier pups are just too small to show or breed. It doesn't hurt to check and get your name on a waiting list. Also pet finder . com will show you any Yorkies in shelters in and around your zip code. Keep checking because it does change a lot. Don't give up. You will find the right one. |

| ![]() That Yorkie ad was flagged. Therefore, it was either a scam, or someone trying to sell Yorkies by calling it re homing fee. I'd never pay a lot of money for a re homing fee. That's when you're asking for trouble. |

| ![]() Even is Beachdog doesn't want to buy a puppy, I would love to meet someone from Yorkietalk. It would be so much fun. I hope I get to meet her. I don't get out too often, but I would have the coffe on, and ice tea if she wants some.
