Yorkies and Jealousy I have a 11 year old chihuahua named Lexi who is very good natured, I have had Heff my yorkie for about 3 weeks. Everytime Lexi tries to get next to me, Heff grabs her tail and tries to pull her away from me barking and nipping at her! It looks like he is playing, but if I call her, he comes running and gets in between us, I was concerned about Lexi being jealous of the new addition, but it looks like the new addition is jealous of her? Is this the nature of the Yorkie? |
I think so. My yorkie is extremely jealous. |
My Yorkie is not jealous and loves to play with other dogs. It may be a personal experience. |
Mine are attention wh@*e$! I feel most Yorkies are predosposed to wanting to be the center of attention, polar opposite of our mini schnauzer. Derik doesn't favor the yorkies...when he is petting princess our schnauzi the boys rub against hos hand, lol, I think they sre pretending he is actually petting them, ! |
Mine gets jealous!:p |

Their have been a few incidents of jealously between Suzi my 4yr old yorkie and my shih tzu she's 3yrs old. Suzi is the instigater, and will even get into a fight with Miely who is the submissive one. It happens out of know where. I hope once Suzi is spayed and her dental she will not do this anymore. When I first brought in Miely to my vet, he then told me getting 2 females can create some problems, I did not know this. No issues occured until they were older . Plus this does not happen on a regular basis. |
my Jewels definitely shows signs of jealousy when chachi gets attention |
Dexter does not like it at all when I give another dog attention over him! He runs up and sits inbetween me and the other dog, on my feet if he has to, just to say "Excuse me, this is my mummy not yours". Ha! Even if I am giving a another human a hug he wants to be part of it :D |

We've had our beagle for over seven years and the other yorkie for four...whenever I would be giving a rub down to Mindy (our beagle), I would almost immediately hear little click click clicks from Toki running on the wood floor all the way across the house...Toki was all like "HAY! WUT IZ GOIN' ON HERE??!?" as she nosed her way between me and Mindy lolol Toki gets along great with dogs and people and loves to play but doesn't want me to share my love lolol |
Welcome to the club. Brandi will come running like a bat out of hell if she sees me giving any attention to my cat. She doesn't attack her but she will nudge her out of the way unless I put a stop to it. |
Oh boy my boys are jealous. My boys are brothers, same litter and almost 7 years ago. They will climb, crawl, and lay on each other to get closer to me. Fletcher though has really taken jealousy to a whole new level. A couple times when I was outside talking to company, I felt something warm on my feet, I looked down and he was MARKING me! :( Also, now whenever he is tired and on my lap, if my nephew tried to pet him, he lunges and barks at him hard! :( When I pet one, the other comes... when I give them each a new toy, they fight over 1 of them only. When 1 is on my lap the other one HAS to be on my lap too! Its terrible! :( |
Lily is like that with Molly they are litter mates too. If I pet Molly Lily will grab her collar and try to pull her away. Molly on the other hand is happy to let her sister get some attention as long as I don\'t forget to pet her when I\'m done. Different personalities I guess. |
My bichon Kirby is very lovable and mild natured. She is over 8 years old. Khole, my yorkie will be seven months old this week. I find Khloe trying to be the center of attention. When I am petting and hugging Kirby, Khloe tries to get in the middle. I nicely put Khloe aside and continue loving Kirby. I deliberately ignore Khole at this time because I know she is craving attention. I wait awhile then give Khloe attention. |
