dang, DH and I can't kiss, hug, nuzzle, etc. without Dinky showing up and insisting that any display of affection should be directed to him, him, him! |
Gracie gets very upset if anyone wants to pet the cat instead of her, especially if it is someone who just arrived here. She also is very protecive of her favorite toys. This behavior usually happens when she is highly excited and is exhibiting her major terrier personality. I don't think of the behavior so much as jealousy but more as dominance. She can be very dominate at times and honesty feels she runs the place a good deal of the time. When someone tries to pet the cat she will run up and try to get between the cat and the person and may actually growl or nip at the cat. It obviously does not really bother the cat but she does get a sharp "NO" for the behavior. She is now 2 years old and still does it occasionally. She will stop when corrected but I can see she does it when she is excited and forgets that this is bad behavior. |
Based on how closely yorkies bond with their owners, it doesn't surprise me much that many tend to get jealous. While Maci is very protective of me, I don't think she gets too jealous of other dogs. My sisters little Maltese is definitely worse. She will get upset and go off to "pout" if my parents or sister pay too much attention to Maci. She goes in spurts though. Most of the time jealousy isn't too big of an issue. |

We had our first dog for 10 months before we got our Yorkie, Ryder. Ryder is EXTREMELY jealous. I think it's in the Yorkie nature. Lol. I can't hardly have one on one attention with my other dog if Ryder is around. He's very needy. :) |
Bella is 4 and she's like that with my husband. She'll bark and snap at him. She can be like that with my grands also. If she's on my lap and the grands walk up to me, she will snap and snarl at them. I tell no and put her on the floor. I really think it is their nature. It's all about them and no one else. |
Oh boy are mine jealous! They are both a year old and even if I've got one hand on each of them, Orion has to be the center of attention! He will push Raelle out of the way to get to the hand that is petting her! If my fiance is being affectionate Orion even tries to get in between the two of us! Its crazy! |
So glad to read this thread, I was about to ask the same question as George is extremely jealous of our cat Womble. George will get in between, roll upside down, climb on me anything as long as it's him. Me Mummy Me Mummy, it's so funny and luckily Womble is a placid cat as she's 7 kg compared to George's 2.6 otherwise she'd squash him and it's not like he doesn't get attention anyway he's already totally spoilt rotten |
Tatiana gets jealous, too. She thinks I'm HER human. She "complains" when I speak with and hug my husband. She would circle around, and howl at me. She has a certain low howl when she complains. Often times, I would say to her,"May I speak with Daddy, please??" or "May I have a few moments with Daddy?? Is that okay with you??" She would sass me back, and howl. She howls at me even when I'm on the phone! Apparently, I'm not allowed to speak to others on the phone. |
Joel tries to get jealous with Rosco but I don't let him.:) Rosco has the spot as the boss of everything lol |

My little Luna is a jealous one. She was here first, and a couple of months later we got Izzy. Lucky for Luna, Izzy is VERY laid back, or she'd be in big trouble because she's half Izzy's size:laugh: When Luna is acting like queen bee, she gets put back on the floor and ignored for a while and that seems to stop the jealousy for a while. She needs to be reminded once in a while that she's not an only child:laugh: |
