Reading this made me fume! I deal with people ignoring the leash law here in Berlin every day. I have had two traumatic dog attack experiences, one involving my own dog being attacked and needing surgery and the other as a witness to a brutal dog attack by a German Shepard on a smaller cattle dog which ended in the cattle dog being killed. I can only say that this man is more than an idiot. I am glad you told him off! You should have! I would have been kicking and hitting his dog (and probably gotten bit myself, because that is so not the safest way to handle the situation) if I were you. I live in constant fear that this will happen to me and I know how scary it is in the moment. I am just glad your little one is ok. I would recommend calling animal control, as they would be the ones to deal with the problem. Unfortunately, they usually only deal with incidents that have already taken place (like this one) and they don't do so much preventative work (at least that is how the animal control was where I used to live in the US) Is there a local office responsible for the dog park? They might also have a system in place to deal with poorly behaving dogs. It is sad that owners give their dogs such bad reputations. I feel bad for his dog, he can't help being so poorly trained. @ Kadence: In the UK they really put dogs down for attacking other dogs? Because here in Germany, the police won't even come unless a person is bit! |

Yeah that!!!! And you can use the mace on that jerkoff too! Is there a different dogpark that you can use? I would be so bleeping scared to go back there:( Not fair, but you gotta keep your baby safe. |
Yup I would pepper spray the dog. Won't harm the big dog. Then I would pepper spray the owner if he came at me. And if that was all I did he would be lucky. I would also call the Police and report the incident so it doesn't progress to something deadly. This is why I never let my wife take the dog alone. PPL make bad dogs. Thats why Pitbull have such a bad rap. Really good dogs with the right breeding. All Terriers are ime. Some Men are punks and need a tough dog. |

I have read and heard of "dangerous dogs" being put down for attacking people and other dogs. Mainly Staffordshires and Pit bulls etc. It's all about the bad owners as well, they should be put down too. Why on earth would you train a dog to be vicious unless you were up to no good? Silly people. |
I am so sorry this happened. That person sounds like a mean crazy. ( what I call people who are deliberately evil) I suggest you leave the park and call the police from your car, (if he comes again) Tell them you feel threatened by him that he allowed his dog to jump all over you the last time he came. I doubt they would come if you you say you were afraid for your much smaller dog :( |

Perhaps after spraying the dog you could spray his owner? If a dog started attacking mine in the park I would kick it then proceed in kicking it's owners ass. |
Thanks everyone....when I told my husband he was fuming. I decided not to go back to that park because inspite of the guy being a true butt face...I do feel like we were lucky. Unfortunately it could've ended so much worse. There is another park in the opposite direction my husband said we will try together. I just get so irritated at some of the pompous arrogant people here who were apparently raised by wolves and feel they can behave however they choose. |

I truly regret what you gone through. That guy was an a-hole. |
