Little Gabby is off to the vet Well today is the day. Teeth cleaned, baby teeth extracted, spay, micro chip, Gina's now poor! We're leaving here in about 25 minutes. God I hate this part. I think she knows. She won't come anywhere near me. How long does will recovery from the spay take? Issy wants to play, play, play and I have a feeling Gabby won't be able to fr a while. |

oh , i know how nervous you must be. Gaby will be a little groggy when she comes home and most likely have some pain and wont feel like doing much. Probably after a couple days she will be feeling better. You can request the vet send you home with some pain meds as well. |
I've already got her prescriptions filled for antibiotics and pain meds. I think I have all my bases covered. Sevoflourane fr anesthesia. They do use heat support during surgery. Spay with laser. Iv antibiotics and pain meds. I weighed her yesterday. She weighed in at 2lbs, 4oz. God she's so tiny! Crap crap! Anything else I need to mention to him? (as if I haven't already driven him crazy) |

I see you are in Utah! So am I!!!! I am in Sugarhouse:) Sounds like you have all your bases covered. Try not to stress, you will soon have your sweet baby back in your arms. What clinic is seeing her today? Hugs for you! |

Dr Orr is a vet competent, qualified vet. He specializes in exotics and has the cleanest clinic I've ever seen. |

Ugh. I just dropped her off. She's kinda mad and threw a tantrum as soon as we walked in. She should be in surgery around 11. He said he'd call me around noon and let me know how she's doing. I think I'm going to have to replace the carpet in my living room. I've been pacing so much that I've worn it out already. |
This is the hard part! Try to stay busy or you will work yourself into a state like I usually do. :) |
Hi Gina, Gabby will be ok, try not to get worked up as I usually do. She will be happy to see you when you pick her up. |
Just reading this now. Hope everything went well for you both today. |
Prayers all goes well for Gabby. Hope you are keeping busy and before you know it she will be home! |
She had surgery at 11. The vet said he'd call me as soon as she woke up and was stable. It's 12:40 and he still hasn't called. I called to check on her and they said Dr Orr will be calling me in a bit. I think it's time to freak out now. |

Prayer, hugs, well wishes, and speedy recovery to Gabby and you. I just been through this so I know where you are coming from. The only difference is Ahi didn't need any teeth pulled.(thank goodness) I was so worried about her recovery. But she was fine from the moment I picked her up. She actually jumped on the bed the next day. And she tried to run around but I wouldn't let her. Her Kissee Collar slowed her down a little because she couldn't see all around her. So that helps. :D Hugs to you and Gabby, Roni and Ahi Girl~ |

looking for an update...how is Gabby doing? |
update pls |
I'm checking for an update as well. I pray that all is OK with Gabby, and hopefully she is home with you now. |
2 Attachment(s) We just got home. She's still yet groggy from the surgery but she's coming around. She did very well though. The vet didn't call me because her heart rate and blood pressure was low and he didn't want to scare me. He knew I'd be there in a flash, no doubt, in his way. She's still not quite right. Not even close, in fact. She seems so out of it. Barely able to move at all. I guess that's to be expected, but I'm not letting her out of my sight for even a minute. She had 5 teeth pulled. 3 decidious baby teeth, 1 premolar and 1 incisor. The baby teeth had to go. The others were crowded since her mouth is so small and couldn't accommodate them. Aside from that, the spay went well. No stitches to worry about with laser. God I feel so bad for her. Poor thing. She looks so miserable. |
Keep her warm and keep waking her up every 15-20 minutes to get the anesthesia out of her system. Do you have Nutrical on hand? |
Oh, sweet little Gabby. Just watch her closely through the night & call the vet if you have any problems. My Jilly & Tibbe both were just jelly even the day after a procedure & slept so much. Neither wanted to eat or drink so I had to put some Nutrical & a bit of syringed water respectively in the side pocket of the mouth to be sure they had something for energy & some hydration. It's no fun going through watching one just lie there. It won't be too long before she is back to being her usual self. |
I missed your trip going, but I caught you coming home. I'm glad it is over for you both! She will be miserable tonight, but pain meds will help her sleep. She is very tiny, so I don't blame you for keeping a very close eye on her. I hope she has a good recovery. |

She hasn't moved off my lap since I brought her home. But when her dad walked in, she jumped up to see him. I'm kinda feeling like chopped spinach here. I'd say liver, but she loves liver. |
So glad Gabby did well with her spay surgery. She will be to her old self in no time. She is such a cutie! |
I'm glad she's home and doing well. I wonder if the anesthesia was also different than Ahi's. She was wide awake when I picked her up and when we got home she ate and drank like normal. They said they gave her a shot for the pain that would last till the next day but it didn't make her grogy or anything. I wonder if different vets do different things. I never heard of a laser spay. I'm going to look it up. :) Now i'm curious why Ahi didn't get spayed that way. Hoping for a quick and speedy recovery for Gabby. *Hugs* |
laser is better because there's less pain, less risk of infection, less swelling and faster recovery. It does cost a bit more, but it's worth it. |

Never heard of laser spay either, I will have to look that one up. Thanks for the info. |
She will probably be groggy until tomorrow. You should see a difference tomorrow and even more the next day! |
Just reading.. Boy the delay of the vet calling had me scared! I am so glad she is doing ok now, will check back for updates! |
