I just now got to reading this thread and I'm so sorry for your frustration and feeling rejected by your dog. I have to say, he may just be one of those 1-person only dogs. My Lexie is like that. My DH & I adopted her at 5, she was most certainly never mistreated, but she just will NOT warm up to DH no matter what. She "tolerates" him at best. When he comes into the room where she is, she barks like crazy. If I'm gone, she might sit next to him on the sofa, but won't allow any petting. It definitely hurt his feelings, but after 4 years, he's resigned to the reality that she's just not into him. :( |
I suggest you start feeding him and giving him boiled chicken as a treat just sit on the floor and toss him some chicken. Over time give it to him when he gets closer to you until he is taking it out of your hand. It will take time maybe even a month but he will start to associate you with wonderful treats and soon will love to be with you because you feed him. |
