If I am sitting on the floor, Jaeger will curl up and not bother me while I am eating, but if my partner and I are eating in bed, Jaeger will either sit on the floor in front of my feet and fuss or settle down, or he'll fuss on his steps. Recently Ive taken to letting him sit/lay on the bed during dinner with us as long he's not fussy or beggy and it seems to be helping. I think his biggest issue is wanting to see what is going on. He is calmer when he can see us. If he lays there the entire time without begging or fussing, he gets my last bite if it is something dog-friendly. (carrots, or apples, or etc) |
Sometimes the girls will sit and give us the puppy dog eyes, ever hopeful:rolleyes: Other times they get the zoomies and start chasing each other and barking:laugh: They don't get table food, usually, and never ever from the table. If I give them anything (plain veggies only), they get it when we're finished and in the kitchen, not at the table. My dh fed them ONCE from the table (and got reamed out by me!)and that's all it took for them to become part-time beggars:laugh: Our first Yorkie Starr was spoiled beyond belief and we even had a booster seat for her at the table, before we knew better. One time she actually walked onto the table from there and that was the end of that! Ever after, she would yip and jump 3' in the air while we were eating dinner and I did NOT want to have these girls doing that, which is why I got so angry at DH for feeding them. Not to mention that he doesn't always give them a bit of something that's okay for them, usually fatty meat or salty chips. He finally quit that mess though, when I relayed it in terms he'd understand---$thousands$ at the ER vet:D I think the zoomies is their way of trying to distract us from our meal to pay attention to them:p |

Mya always lays under the table and Oliver will sit beside me and hope something falls. Neither are beggars, I never allowed it and they learned quickly that it just got them in trouble. They are NEVER fed from the table, if we had veggies they can eat or egg whites I always put it in their dish. If I'm on the couch Oliver will sit with a paw on my leg and inch closer to my plate, hoping I don't notice.. lol. He's always disappointed ;) |
Kacee doesn't beg at the table, because she's never been fed table food.;) I always feed her first and then she is usually taking a nap or trying to rush me through dinner so she can go for a walk or something like that.:D |
I am not sure if Its crazy or not... but our Truffles has own booster seat attached to dinning table right next to me :D She used to be on the floor but one day my husband found this "Pet booster" ( picture on the box was " Yorkie" too lol) and brought it home... we use is in patio for BBQ too :) she eats her Acana doggy food on table. |
Bailey is almost 4 months old now and we have not given him any food other than his dog food. So far he hasn't shown any interest in people food. My grandson (he's 5) comes over and I make him recite the "bailey rules" to me every time and one of them is no human treats..lol |

If they are asleep when we eat I just leave them be but if they are playing around I put them in their crate till we finish. The older dogs have Always had table scraps (dh) and itstoo late to stop them now. But I am adiment my dh won't feed the pups from the table. It's him I need to train not the dog's. |

Gracie would love the booster seat, too. When she was little I would let her lay on my lap while we were at the table. She would just lay down and sleep there. But now that she is full grown I am concerned about her falling off my lap so I make her stay on the floor. I think the booster seat is a great idea for a well behaved dog.:) |
