This is the 3rd time I tried to post an answer. This is much shorter and more blunt. 1) that person was rude and out of line. 2) your Yorkie is adorable and perfect for you 3) the majority of Yorkies are not super models ready for the Dog Show. Dogs are like humans, most are average when it come to some perfect ideal. Only a few women are very tall, size 0 ultra thin, super model material. |
OMG...that is DISGUSTING :( I am so sorry, Sarah. Good job just leaving the store, I would've done something like say to her yorkie, "I'm sorry your mommy is such an ugly person" Ugh...Sophia is GORGEOUS! She is one of the prettiest yorkies I've seen! I get sh!t all the time for Luma, because yorkies shouldn't be so long and tall. She's "huge" apparently, at 3.5lbs and EVERYONE calls her a rat since she's shaved. I am at my bf's hometown currently and his little cousins are there..14, 7, and 5. They were all messing with Luma nonstop and calling her a rat, saying her head is too big, saying she was too hyper...whatever. |

BTW Sophia is a doll I feel sorry for that little yorkie being raised by such a b*&ch |
That was so mean! :(:( I can't believe some people can be like that. Sophie is an adorable little girl and I'm so sorry that this thoughtless lady hurt your feelings like that. Wish I could give you a hug. |
You guys have some good comebacks!!! Now I'm prepared if it happens again!!! Sophia knows I think she's the most beautiful baby girl in the world. She walks around like she owns the place! I would tell her all of your wonderful compliments... but I think it might go right to her head, LOL. Thanks for listening, it just feels so good to vent! |
Let it go to her head. Sophia deserves it!:) |
OMG! What a b*tch! |
Lady is rude... Hi, I'm picking up my new girl on Friday from the breeder. I've done a lot of research before getting her and I'm continuing to research the breed. What I've gleaned foremost from this daunting experience is that there is great - no, GREAT - concern about the "breed standard" lately. The yorkie is so popular that it's just being over bred some. The several breeders I talked to before selecting my pup seemed overtly disgusted about the breeding practices of late. They're concerned about preserving the breed for the future and I seemed to detect real worry on their parts that it's becoming a more and more difficult standard to maintain. That's why many of the best breeders only provide a limited AKC registration - some won't even provide those papers until after the pet is spayed/neutered. Also, they seem very concerned and protective about the lines they developed. It's for the betterment of the breed obviously - but just maybe they covet their lines for competition (?? I don't know the real answer to this point - it's just a suggestion.) There's no excuse for that woman to make ANY comment about anyone's pup. All I can say is that maybe she was a breeder who has taken her passion for the breed over the top. I don't believe that the quality breeders I have spoken with would make any comment like that - but they might be thinking it. Just my 'newbie' thoughts. Sophie is beautiful by the way.:) Have a great day. Tracey |

Even if that lady was having an issue in her own mind it does not take much common sense to know that Sophia is a beautiful and much loved pet and that decent people do not attack the quality of anyone's beloved furry family member any more than they would someone's skin kid. There are those in the show world that are competitive and snobby but this woman way way beyond any norm of common decency. |
It is stunning to me that anyone would say such a thing. At the dog park I see all kinds of pure bred and mutts of every size and shape and each and everyone of them is loved by their people. What a horribly miserable woman she must be to say such a rude thing. Sophia is just darling. I shudder to think of what she would say about Zoey with her long skinny legs. Guess I would have to punch her in the face. |
Yeah, there's no excuse for that lady's remarks. She's rude. I just sometimes try to understand what might provoke people to behave the way they do. I'm in no way condoning her comments or reaction to Sophie - who is a love.:) |

I have to agree with everyone one here that was not nice of the lady to say that after she was told her baby was cute. I agree with Jadabug Mommy, both Daddy and I would of been arrested to because the lady would of been knocked out cold. LOL |

i AGREE IN THAT SOPHIE IS BEAUTIFUL.. I think you may be right about focus on standards by some. That does not give her the right to say that..it is almost unbelievable that she would:eek: I personally understand keeping the breed for showing etc.. but who cares for pets!! The only reason to care is for health reasons, that is important but some of the cutest puppies I have seen are mixed breeds. Now before I get "haters" for the mixed breed comment.. I would not breed a mixed breed or activitly go looking for one.. just saying they all are cute and hopefully loved |
