Long Tailed Yorkies? 1 Attachment(s) I know we have a teapot club for those of us with larger yorkies, is there anyone else here with a long tailed yorkie like Ellington? |
Yeah Molly and Lily both have long tails. We don't dock the tails in the UK any more I think it's illegal unless it's a working dog. |
Yes, my Allie has a full tail, and my late Molly had a full tail as well. I just love full tails. |
I wish mine did. The thought of them going through getting tail docked kills me :( |
My Winnie has a long tail!!! |

Harry's got a long plume-y tail - just the right height to sweep all my precious nick-nacks onto the floor.... :D Sally + Harry x |
My girlie Maya has a full tail!!! I love it!:) |
You all should start a group here...it might encourage others to request no docking here in the states. I miss my Roxy's plume tail. It was beautiful. |
3 Attachment(s) Jackson's reppin' the long tailed yorkies. I love when he's in the pool and all you see is that tail flying out of the water like he's waving his flag, LOL |
Yup, both of mine have the long tail...I am soooo glad they do! |
I just adore the long tails, more to love:D It makes me kind of sad inside to watch my happy little girls wave their tiny stumps. I wish that the US would stop the practice, or at least make it acceptable to show any breed with their natural tail. It just seems barbaric to me, and also the way some breeds have their ears cropped too:( It just seems weird to cut pieces off of a dog to conform to the "breed standard" |

It DID seem strange at first, previously we've had Boxers, Schnauzers etc. all of course with cropped tails. When the Law first came into force - to see (especially) a Boxer with a long tail, just didn't look right - they looked like cross-breeds. But now, a few years down the line, we're totally used to it - it doesn't even occur to me anymore. And, of course, all the backstreet 'hacking-offs' and the subsequent pain and infection have disappeared.....thank goodness! :) Sally + Harry x |
I have 2 adults with tails, and 2 puppies with tails. I also have 3 adults with docked tails and 2 puppies with docked tails. |
I had a Shih Tzu with a beautiful plume of a tail for 15 years. When I first saw Gracie as a puppy I didn't think too much about her lack of a tail. One day as I watched her from behind and saw that little tail just a wagging a mile a minute I was reminded of how sad it was that she couldn't show off her emotions with a full beautiful tail. I don't know if they will ever outlaw tail docking in this country. I think making it against the law would be going a bit too far but it would be nice if the AKC would stop demanding that the tail be docked as part of the breed standard. |

Zachary is from German parents (Biewer Yorkie) and in Germany, they do not do the tails or ears either. So Zachary has the most BEAUTIFUL LONG TAIL!! Louise |

I love my dogs no matter what they look like. One of my Japanese Chin's weighs 7 1/2 pounds, one over 12. One of my Chihuahua's is 5 pounds, one is 10. Each one is special and an individual and I love them all! Louise :aimeeyork |
I have one! My little girl Catarina has a full tail and I love it! I wasn't used to it at start, but now I can't picture her with a docked tail. |
My Coco has a long tail and floppy ears. There's nothing more expressive when he'shappy than that tail. I love it! |
Aww I'm so pleased to hear support for long tailed yorkies, I am from the UK too, so of course the idea of docking seems so bizarre and pretty cruel to me. So if we have teapot yorkies, what could we call our long tailed buddies? The Waggers? I'd have a Wagging Teapot if we do! Any ideas? |
What about tall tales (tails) ? |
3 Attachment(s) not sure if Lola counts, she is a yorkie pom mix, but LOL I think of her more like a yorkie except when it comes to her tail. At first I was disappointed that they did not dock her tail, but now we just love it and I have changed my mind about the concept of docking yorkie tails. Her tail now is longer than her body, she is 10.5" from neck to edge of tail and her tail is 11". I keep wondering how long it will get if I never trim it. Here are some photos of it, mostly it is up and flows down one side of her body, it's also two tone, lighter on the underneath. |
wow!! that is an awesome tail!! |

Brody does...Mia's was docked way too short. I like the full tail. |

my past yorkies came from show breeders and had tails just not long ones, the show breeders seem to know how to dock properly and leave a little something. Also the hair on a properly docked tail usually will grow so you can still get some of that cascade effect. Does anyone know about hair on tails, if I don't cut Lola's I wonder how long it will grow. I am afraid that it will eventually start getting caught in things. I am pretty careful but the other night after a few hours on YT I found out she had curled up and went to sleep under my desk chair, and I started to roll over it, luckily I only got the hair end, not the tail muscle or cartilage or whatever the tail is made of. I can see why they dock working dogs because tails can be a hazard. Even now Lola's tail till surprises her and she jumps back like OMG:eek: what the heck is following me, now when she chases her tail she can easily catch it:D |
2 Attachment(s) Hailey does and i LOVE it! it's so beautiful.... it has such a nice feathery look. she ended up with a long tail because she was a premie and was too small when it came time to have her tail docked so she kept it. boy am i glad she did! |

My girl's not docked Lucy is UNDOCKED! I think over time you'll see more and more pups WITH their tails in tact. ('bout time.):D |
