Shampoo and Conditioners, decisions! decisions! What Shampoo and Conditioner's are good to use on your special york(s)? When its bath time for my babies I use Yorkie Sheen products and Mink Sheen, what do you use? |
The same as you and also Isle of Dogs, I really like it too. I really am a product junkie. As of now I shouldn't need any shampoos and conditioners for a long time, well unless another brand sounds awesome, I'm hopeless. LOL |
I love Minksheen:D |
Minksheen! I keep reading posts about other shampoos and get tempted to try, but- people always want to know what I use on my pups, even the vet! |

On the mink sheen thing -- I never mean to offend, but always try to mention that is a by-product of mink farms...which are known as very cruel to minks. I only mention this bc when I wanted to use Mink Sheen, I had no idea that it was actually from minks...for some reason, I thought it was just named that bc it made dogs coats shiny. :p |

That's *exactly* what I thought when I wanted to try Mink Sheen too! I had heard such great things about it and was about to try it...and then some 6th sense said to look up whether it came from minks. Sure enough. Maybe I'll try Yorkie Shine, I don't think I've tried that one. |

This is why YT is so great I always learn so much;) |
I use pet silk products...I have tried many and was thinking about trying the mink sheen...I won't now! I ordered the yorkie splash and shine....sorry...not a fan of it...always go back to the pet silk...it makes there hair very soft and shiny and the smell lasts longer than any other shampoo i have tried... |
I use YSS products too. I have used Minksheen in the past and loved the shine but I have not purchased any recently. I also have used Chris Christensen and like it. I am currently using IV San Bernard on Rosie. And I love it. But I think as far as detanglers go, you can't beat Yorkie Sheen!! |

I LOVE Buddy Wash. You can get it at Whole Foods. It has a very mild smell (I find most dog shampoos way perfumey), and the separate conditioner is incredible. |
I just started Max on Yorkie Splash an Shine and it definitely has a great smell. I am not experienced with many brands but I have Chris Christensen and like YSS better. It seems like it takes a lot of conditioner to lather completely though. Also, it feels waxy and you need to rinse, rinse, rinse to get it all out! Even with those minor issues, I think I am stuck on YSS because the smell is yummy!!! |
I've only used Isle of Dogs Silky Coating. But I've been curious about others. Does anyone know how IOD compares with YSS or Pet Silk? |

Plus with the MinkSheen, by it being from the mink, the smell is not that pleasant but to, I never smelled a mink! |

OP........I'm currently using Spa Fresh facial scrub, Nootie or Silk Elements for shampoos and Iv San Bernard's PEK conditioner. I'm thinking of switching to WEN though, after using it on my hair for 3 years now. My hair color has gone back to it's youthful darker color, and is so soft now! The chemicals in shampoo strip your hair of color along with the natural oils. Over time even natural hair color is lightened considerably with shampoo use. I'm thinking yorkie coats that go light, may benefit from WEN. |

I will tell you it took some time for me to get used to using WEN. At first I didn't like it all, because it's so different from a lathering shampoo. But, after 3 years now, my hair is almost amazing, in that it looks like it did 20 years ago. I don't have gray hair, just an occasional one shows up, but my hair was about 10 shades lighter from all the color stripping from shampoo use. Now, it's a rich deeper brown, before it was a washed out dishwater blonde color. |
I've used Nature's Specialties Plum Silky shampoo and Re-moisturizer conditioner on Tatum for years..... ever since she came back from the groomer looking and smelling so great when she was about a year old. It works so well for her hair... keeping her silky for about 2 weeks at least. I also use Chris. C. Ice on Ice before blowdrying and then before brushing. I've tried Mink Sheen and others but had problems with her being greasy after a few days. All yorkies hair is different though so it's trial and error in finding the perfect one. We got lucky with her type of hair.... sometimes I don't even brush her for a week and still, no tangles. |

When it comes to bath time fore our beloved Yorkies, we all want our yorkies to have that nice and fluffy look, which my Yorkie gets her coat nice and shiny and fluffy with the shampoo AvoDerm located at Petco. The price for the shampoo is usually $6.99 and for the conditioner it is usually $8.49 . It's a little pricey but it's worth the results that it leaves on your Yorkie afterwards. Hope this helps! - Melissa & Cali:animal37:woof: |
I always find my way back to Bio-Groom protein lanolin shampoo and Bio-Groom Silk Conditioner. I use Chris Christensen Day to Day , and use Ice-on-Ice detangler when needed. I also love Yorkie Splash and Shine for it's natural ingredients and clean fresh smell. I personaly do not care for Mink Sheen. |
