That is wonderful that you adopted, if and when I get another dog, it will be a rescue...So many here have opened my eyes. Bless you. |
Oh my....where are they getting all of these puppies?? :( Looks like a pet store to me. We have one of those places here....pet store and veterinarian. Makes me sick to my stomach. |

We did adopt actually and no its not a rescue center...they are wonderful to these puppies and they truely care ...they helped with so much and people we know have bought from them too so you can be sick to your stomach somewhere else lady |
I checked the website and am surprised there are puppies on there as young as 7 weeks. At what age do they send them home? They have some cuties there. I don't want to jump on you but I don't usually see so many puppies at rescues center. I am no expert on the subject though. |

I wish you well with your puppy...this has nothing to do with him. |

Yes, the place IS shady and to say it is not is just wrong. We cannot just say "oh that's great and everyone please go patronize this place". |
no its not a rescue just a center where they get puppies but they get vet checked and background checked from the breeders etc....they are very well taken care of but i know places like pet stores and puppy mills and i dont agree with all that . I support people who rescue animals i think that is wonderful |

No one said they are not taking care of the puppies....I am questioning where they get them. Those puppies they are selling are so young and I don't know of any reputable breeder who would simply turn young puppies like that over to a store to sell them. They may look pretty...not like what you think of when you see a puppy mills; but honestly they are just a pretty pet store that is selling puppies. |
apparently some pppl cant handle a post i was letting others know where i got my dog from but theres always gotta be someone to ruin it! oh well ill remove the post im not promoting the place we got them from..but its funny it looks like your promoting your rescue center and i need my homework on them and talked to the breeders and did everything i needed to maybe ladyjane needs to do some research on minding her own business |
Please understand that this has NOTHING to do with you OR your puppy. I wish you well with him. It is just that you advertised for them and I went to look at their site and it is clearly not a place I would recommend. I think they are pulling the wool over peoples' eyes, so to speak. |
I did my homework*** and we have papers on the puppy the parents and all the breeders info..thanks for asking though...dont judge this place when you have no idea because you think you know something |

It is a shame that you are taking this personal. Maybe perhaps look at this as an educational experience. Instead of attacking me, perhaps you should take a long look at this place and what they are doing. As for minding my business....actually that is what I am doing. Educating people about places like that are part of what rescue does. :) |
OP, is Scrappy your new pup? Very cute puppy! Why not just turn this around to sharing about your new puppy and forget the place. Everyone would love to know more about him...and see pics. I just looked at your album and he is adorable! |
I know you are excited but honestly, that place definitely looks shady. :( They are using the word "adoption" to make it sound better, but no kind of adoption or rescue place typically has that many puppies. Having papers doesn't mean much .... lots of pet stores give you papers with your puppy, and it's super easy to get them registered, even if they are coming from a puppy mill. I am sooo glad you are happy with your pup, but I would look into the place a little deeper. If you don't support puppy mills and pet stores, then don't support this place in the future, because it's literally the same thing. Lots of pet store pups are treated great and the people are nice (and a lot of them aren't)... but it doesn't make it right. Good people can sometimes do bad things. Think about your pups mama, who is probably still sitting somewhere in a cage in her own filth and feces and being bred over and over again just to make some quick money for some person who would sell to such a place as this. Here is a reply I found from this adoption center to a forum member: Quote:

Scrappysmom, I'm sure you love your pup and you really are unaware of the realities of places like this. I personally advocate against these types of places as do many here. I am particularly concerned that they are infact a Veterinarian practice as well. After reading much information online, I am truly alarmed. They have some very unethical practices. Please don't take it personally, read up on YT as to why places like this need to be shut down. We are in it for the pups, please educate yourself before you get offended, please. |
yes your are right brister thank u i think its best if i delete the orginal thread but iam not sure how to |
No offense to the OP but this may be a broker. I found a forum where a poster asked if anyone knew where they acquire their pup. A new member signed on to answer. The new member is from a rescue called Love at First Site with the same address as the animal hospital. This is her answer..... "All of the animals at LAFS adoption center have a price that includes many additional things that you cannot get from a pet you buy online or in the newspaper. The pets are examined by a veterinarian and health guaranteed. They are microchipped . They have had at least one set of vaccinations depending on their age. ( Each set of shots is given every 2 weeks and valued at $100 per set.) The pets are fed Science Diet Food with a powder called Cocci Guard (to prevent Coccidia) and a sample bag is sent home with the new owner. To the original question: I am very sorry you weren't given good service yesterday. Although our Adoption center coordinator was sick we still should have given you better service. The chihuahuas have had four sets of vaccinations (total value $400) and a microchip (value $25). The only thing they need is a Rabies vaccine (which we wait to give until they have an owner) We get our pure bred puppies from local people that we have long time relationships with and help them find homes for people wanting registered dogs. We also have mixed breed puppies that we spay/neuter and give the same vaccinations to and find them homes. Thank you for letting me know about your experience so that I can improve the customer service in our business." Here is their location: Love at First Sight Adoption Center in Hattiesburg, MS - Pet Supplies & Accessories: Yellow Pages Directory Inc. This is the forum where the question was asked: Animals for sale at Animal ER - My Hattiesburg Am I seeing this right?.... Sorry Brister we must have been typing at the same time... |
So this place is a veterinary clinic, correct? I have heard of veterinarians sometimes having owner surrenders that they then adopt out to clients. It's not that far fetched. They usually ask for some adoption fee amount that can cover some, if not all get fees the pup has accumulated while staying at the vets office. to me when I see a place like this, I would want full disclosure as to why a 6-13 week old puppy was surrendered to be cared for by a veterinarian. What ailments had caused for breeder/original adopter to surrender such a small puppy? Liver shunt? LP? They just seem so young to have to be in the care of a veterinarian or for the original adopters not to have the funds to cover their care. Just makes me go hmmm.... On the other hand I have also seen veterinarians/pet stores and groomer/pet stores. Sure the puppies that are physically there might be well taken care of (some I've seen in person have listless puppies with no energy :( its so sad) but what about the parents? No breeder that cares for their pups and the work they have put into their lines will then allow someone else to place their puppies. Why work so hard for something and then just give it away? That also doesn't make sense to me. Byb and puppy mills have that policy, but not a breeder that I would personally respect. All I'm saying in this long winded post is this particular place smells a little fishy. Why no adult adoptions? It makes me think this is a vet/pet store. I'm too far to look into that place myself, and won't be adopting from them. But anyone interested in adopting from there should really research this place fully before "adopting." |
A good breeder keeps the pups in their home with their mom until they are sold (not just hand them off to someone who will sell them from a cage). If the pup no longer fits in your family for whatever reason, they have a requirement that they MUST take them back so they do not end up in a shelter or some random place. They will have spay/neuter contracts in place. Your dogs parents are thoroughly health checked for any problems your specific breed is prone to. Breeders also love to keep in contact with their puppy buyers, and if nearby, even offer grooming as well as boarding for free. A reputable breeder will most likely be involved in some way in their puppy's lives for the rest of their life. I am sure this place doesn't offer that. And I am not trying to make you feel bad, or gang up on you at all. I got my dog from a BYB who couldn't even care to email me back when I told her a few months later how happy I was with my dog and sent a picture. So, yeah, granted he was raised in a home and loved while he was there, and with his mama, not in a cage, etc... it's still not a place I would support in the future. Now would I do it all over again to have Jackson? You bet! But I still feel kind of like an idiot for giving her $550 - knowing she made BANK off those pups, and probably just ended up breeding her pet girl again. But live and learn ya know? |
Sounds like a relative of Hunte Corporation...this is not a RESCUE place. My day is ruined. |
can someone just please tell me how to delete this thread its just going to start things and i dont want ot be a part of it now |

You can close the thread ... all you have to do is click on the triangle with the exclamation mark in it. It is at the bottom left of each post. You can close any thread that you start. |
Oh, and DO start a new thread about Scrappy! :) |
Don't take this personally. We've all made mistakes. Some people joined YT after purchasing their pup and not having a clue what a puppy mill or back yard breeder is. There are also some of us who know but put our trust into someone and being completely misled. It happens. Live and learn. :) do post pictures of your fur baby. I bet he's your pride and joy. |
