Once Calleigh was trained/and pad trained she has always roamed around the house. I don't use pads if I won't be gone for very long. She hasn't had any accidents. She just turned 5 so she knows what to do it and when to do it. :) |
Brandy is 8 months old and I still crate her when we leave her home alone. I am afraid she will eat something that could hurt her. |
Gabby will be 2 soon and the new puppy (that doesn't have name yet) is 13 weeks. Both of them go in an ex pen when I'm out. |
Milo stays in our master bath that has a window. It has a door to our laundry room so I let him have both rooms. I don't use the x pen anymore so I took it apart and made 3 gates out of it so he can see into different rooms. He goes on pads so I thought about letting him roam free for a change. |
Brody and Mia have had free roam since they came to live with me. Brody was 14 months old at the time and 3 months later when we got Mia, she was 17 months old. We also allow Sunny, whom we puppysit for, free roam and she is several months younger than Brody and Mia who are 6 days apart in age. I have always allowed all of my babies free roam...I never crate at home but allow them to wander into the open crate if/when they choose. The most confinement any of them get is when they are really young and then open confinement in an easily scrubbable room like a gated bathroom or kitchen. If they must be secured...like when workmen are running in and out with doors open, they go into a bedroom, etc. with the door closed. |
I ment to add that Milo gets to roam free when we are home. He is so attached to me it would kill him if he didn't get to follow me around every step I made. |

Lol don't know why it's posted twice. |
Katie Scarlett has never been left alone either. I'm a stay at home wife and am always here. She goes everywhere with us and if she cannot go she visits doggy daycare. This works great for us but I don't reckon' it's suitable for everyone. Lol. |
Cherry, is left out for up to 2 hours...But if we are going to be gone longer she is in her put up...She likes it because she walks in on her own because she knows she is getting a treat. But when we are gone more then 5 hours my sister lives next door they come and get her and take her to their house of just let her out to go potty. She has never been in doggy day care of over night. My kids are grown so someone comes and stays at the house if we have to go out of town. Cherry is very spoiled! |
