Thank you for all your replies! I love the idea that some of your yorkies wait to be wiped - how i wish Riley was like that!!! Did you train them to do this?

Yes, I probably wouldn't be trimming him myself anyway, I haven't a clue how to cut my own hair never mind my little baby's! I might just take him back to the groomers regularly and ask her to trim his bum!

If only they could wipe their own bums, ha! xx

Yes it is, i use a trimmer on that area every 2 or 3 weeks

I didn't train her. She trained me. :D Lol she just can't handle a dirty booty. Oh yeah, I also use a wipe on her each time she poops.

Lucky him...I use my hubby's trimmer that he currently still uses. :p shhhh...don't tell him though.:D

When my Uni was a pup she got poop stuck in her butt ALL THE TIME! Didn't know why, but she got frequent butt washes and she hated them. Now when she gets it stuck it's bc she swallowed a hair and the hair didn't come all the way out but she has no more poop. This is particularly a big problem for us bc out of the 4 that live in our household, 3 of us have long hair. I would imagine Ahi's Mom may have the same thing going on. :D Now if this were to happen, do NOT pull the hair out. Just cut it and let it come out on the next BM. The last thing you want to do is pull it, that thin little hair could be very strong and if you pull it can cut their intestines or anus. Same if they happen to swallow yarn or dental floss.

I had a friend in HS that told me she used her brother's beard trimmer on her bikini line and never told him. :eek::eek::eek::eek:

maybe its the food, when mine sticks to just her kibble and water shes fine, but if i give her any wet dog food chicken etc..it make the poo softer which makes it get stuck to her but fur, she cries and sits down until i pull it off and wash her lol..so i rarley feed her anything other than kibble now..i haven't trimmed her butt fur yet and shes 6 months i guess i should eventually,maybe switching the kibble and just sticking to just that might help

I was going to start a thread on this very thing today. On Christmas Day when Lexi was just a baby (she a big six months now) she went poop and she just kept trying to go. We couldn't figure out what was going on. We took a look and sure enough, something was coming out, but it sure didn't look like what should be coming out of there. We panicked, off the the emergency vet and sure enough, it was just poop stuck in her hair. So we joke that she had her first bikini trim for Christmas. Our little Lexi has just gained a bit of freedom. She is now able to go into the yard (with supervision) instead of just the deck. She went out and pooped for the first time in the yard. I could tell she was uncomfortable about something and since this has happened before, I could see she had 'some stuck'. She ran around the yard full blast about 10 times frantically trying to get 'unstuck' and with no success, up onto the deck and into the house. I was thinking to myself as I followed her in 'I hope that doesn't end up on the couch.':eek: I came in to find her sitting on the rug in the bathroom with a look of 'Mom, it happened again, help please me.' A bit of a bottom wash and all was well again, but I was wondering how to let the groomer know how to trim back there. I have told her this happens and she trims, but about a week after the groom, this happens again. What is the right trim for back there???:confused:

I guess my question would be does your little one have kind of loose stools or sticky? Gracie has her rear trimmed but not weekly. We don't have anything sticking around...so to speak. It may be the difference in the food. Gracie has very small amounts of poo and they don't stick. I guess I should be glad about that!:):thumbup:

Good point i was going to mention this also. Once in a blue moon when someone sneaks Lexie something she's not supposed to have she'll get a little softer poo that will get caught on her hairs. Did you check to make sure all his poops are firm and formed?. Sounds gross but sometimes we have to become poop inspectors lol :p

Does he get these bc of the texture of his poo? I don't trim at all - but bc the texture of my dogs' poo poo is firm and formed - it always just drops right off. If they happen to have a mushier poo for some reason, then they might have a sticker.

If your kiddo is having mushier poos, then I'd try changing foods.

Thats what I was thinking. Kaji gets poop stuck back there when his stool is too soft. Or, like Priscilla said, he eats a hair. He has such a bad habit of sitting and nibbling my hair. :rolleyes:

I'm so sorry your little Riley goes through this, but I am glad I found this thread because I just posted something similar to this. I get so upset for my little Izzy when he goes through this. I think it's what someone is feeding him, when I'm not around. ugh....Good luck and I hope we can work through this for them and our sanity. :)
