solid golden yorkie
 
this weekend while visiting in Oklahoma I met a lady with 4 yorkies. The female was solid gold. Has anyone seen this before?

Sure, I have one. She is actually Gold and white. She just had her first birthday and her name is Chai. Soem people refer to them as red. She has four white feet and is a parti-color. She came from traditionally colored yorkies who both carried the recessive genes for this color. They are both AKC registered. In the past she would have been drowned at birth but breeders are starting to recognize the value of these little cuties!

I did when I was interviewing breeders before I got Loki. The mom's name was Goldie and was all gold. That wasn't exactly what we were looking for so we moved on. I thought it was odd?

Julz is a user on here - she has a gorgeous golden girl. By the way, Kim - Chai is such a doll!!

I think my Biddy looks like a red yorkie - but she is actually a Yorkie/Jack Russell mix...

Wow she is beautiful!!!!! So do you think it would be safe to get a puppy from this mother? The dad is standard color. There are three pups and they seem to have alot of brownish highlight to thier coat.

She is pretty! I think maybe I was turned off because the one I met didn't look healthy. It probably had less to do with the color than I thought. Although I don't think that one was "red' or "parti" I think she was just very light in color.

If you are just getting a pet, I think it is just a preferrence of looks. You may not be able to show a red Yorkie (someone else may be able to help in this department), but I think they're gorgeous.

In regard to gold Yorkies, here are a few pictures of mine.....(huge surprise to me when they were born along with their 2 standard littermates!!)....

Oh wow!!! Her pups arent like that at all....Let me see if I can attach a picture I took. Let me know if you can see all the gold/brown in them. The gold mom is in the background. sorry about the picture it was too large and that was the only way I could upload it....

The Mom is a gold Yorkie and VERY much like my Mercedes. However, mine has never had one brown or black hair on her and I can tell, never will. Those pups probably will not look like her when they grow up, they will just have a lot lighter color to them than the standard Yorkie. A couple almost look chocolate....another Yorkie color I never knew existed until mine were born and I started researching color anomallies.

Thank you very much! :) . Some people on here LOVE them and some are not so much for them. They were just born that way and are Yorkie in every sense of the word. Crazy, energetic, loving, totally into french kissing, jumping from every possible angle, fearless, and precious. I feel I was blessed to have mine born to me. :)

You are blessed girl, but the coolest thing is that you know it. Always warms my heart to know how much you LOVE those babies and never for a moment have you taken having them for granted. Always have enjoyed that about you :D

I would love to have one that color. I think they are beautiful. As a few of you know I am thinking of getting another. I think Kaytlyn needs a friend.

I have seen this in some older yorkies also. The gold "glitter or gold dust" will start at the base of the tail. As the dog ages it will spread all over replacing its blue/black body color.

we had samething happen but i think came thru mom . or someone got in the hen house lol. and now they are starting to turn dark . Their sister is black and gold. They both are for sale.
