Doggie Depression 3 Attachment(s) I think my dog is depressed.. he doesn't like to go outside anymore. all he does is sleep. and now pee in the house. or chew up this pillow that we have allowed him to make his bed. he won't sit or lay down like he knows how. he doesn't hardly eat anymore. His behavior has became extremely frustrating! i think he is depressed. has anyone else discovered this? |
I don't know anything about doggie depression. You might want to make an appt with your vet. He/she can rule out any physical problems and if it is depression give you advice and possibly medication to help your little guy feel better. |
I would definitely go to the vet, asap. Years ago, my girl was lathargic for months and I knew this had to be a symptom of something else. It took awhile, but finally a specialist vet figured it out. Hope you can get things figured out too. |
Going to the vet is the best option I think. You need to rule out any other health issues. |
He went to the vet last week... for his ringworm follow up and some routine vaccinations. He is healthy as can be. we are stationed at Osan in South Korea right now (my husband is Air Force EOD) so we have limited resources. |
Good morning and welcome :) Yep, a vet check first of all - how old is your little one? And he hasn't been swallowing any of that yellow foam-y stuff has he? Sally + Harry :aimeeyork x |
Let us know how your adorable little guy is doing and what your vet says. He sure is a cutie :) |
Maybe he's bored, and needs some physical and mental stimulation ! |

If I may ask -- why is your baby sleeping on that yellow sponge? I'd at least cover it with a pillow case so he cannot chew at it. If he's been swallowing that sponge he needs to be seen by a vet asap. |

I'm in agreement that the sponge could be a problem. He may have swallowed some of it and that is why he is not eating. If he doesn't feel well he won't want to play. Go to vet and mention the sponge. xray time! |
Oh gosh...I'd take him back to the vet, or to a new vet asap. When a dog stops eating, or hardly eats and suddenly is very low energy -- something is wrong. What tests did the vet do last week to determine he was fine? Please take his foam pillows away from him right away, he shouldn't be eating the foam. Did you tell the vet he was eating the foam? Eating foam and other non-food things is sometimes a sign of "pica". Here are some links to read about it: Pica in Dogs - Page 1 Pica in Dogs - VetInfo |
I would also be concerned about him swallowing parts of that foam. Most foams are made of chemicals that could be causing a toxic reaction in his body. I would take that away from him and give him a good dog bed. Get him to the vet as soon as you can. |
Sounds like he needs a vet check up and to have the foam taken away. |
We actually took the foam pillows away from him right after i posted it, and shut him out of our bedroom. He sat in front of our bedroom door crying to get in there before settling for another corner of our living room, behind the coat rack. He is eating again. Still seems to be in a funk. Going to see if we can take him in again, and get him checked out. Just to be sure. |
