Ryder is shaking is head about every 20-30 seconds like something might be in his ear.. We've looked and don't see anything. What should I do??

Could it be an ear infection? I'd take him to the vet to make sure. Katie Scarkett had a minor yeast infection in one ear a few weeks ago and was shaking her head. I took her straight to the vet and got a exam and meddies.

11 weeks. This just started... At first he was whining and we couldn't figure out what was wrong. He's not shaking his head as much now, but it still bothers me. Whatever it is, it's still bothering him... :( Should I call my vet tomorrow? What could it be??

It was just all of a sudden, could it be an ear infection at 11 weeks?

Has he been eating regularly today? Shaking head can be a symptom of hypoglycemia. Do you have any Nutri-cal or Karo syrup at home?

If it's not from lack of eating, low-blood sugar, I would definately get him to the vet for checkup to find out what it is.

I'm a newer yorkie owner and am not sure, but I'd definitely call the vet just in case. I'm sure fellow yt'ers will jump in and give advice. They all are so great to help me out when needed. :)

Could also be ear mites. Yes, call the Vet. first thing in the morning. Hope he doesn't have a very bad night tonight poor little guy.

I would call the vet in the morning it sounds like something is wrong with his ears, it could be an ear infection.

Yes, he's ate regualarly today. Hasn't acted abnormal at all. I believe it's mostly stopped now, but I'm a paranoid parent, so I'll be calling our vet tomorrow just to see if they want to check him out. :) I HOPE it's nothing serious!

It's good to be paranoid they are so little. I hope everything turns out to be ok. Keep us posted!

When we got Kyra she would do that and paw at her ears. The vet checked for infection and mites and said it was most likely because she was teething. I would call just to be safe though :)

I would've never thought about teething! Good possiblity! I will call tomorrow if he's still doing it. Should I check on him throughout the night?

I would put his crate next to my bed (I do that with my babies anyway :) ) That way you can hear him if he needs you.

Usually, if they are scratching their ears, then that is a sure sign of mites or a yeast infection, but shaking the head could be or could not be. Know what I mean?:)

Smell his ears....do they have an odor? Have you looked in his ears....not with an instrument, just look at what you can see inside the ear....is is clean? Most important, does it smell? Could be ear mites or could be a fungus ear infection...your vet will look and check it out and be able to tell you.

It could a variety of reasons as to why he is doing that.

Hi and welcome to YT. Even if your little one is no longer shaking his head I would still take him to the vet. Your vet is best equipped to examine and diagnose.

All this happened with our Harry when he was tiny....I could hear his ears flapping around that night :( so we were able to get up and give them a very gentle massage, which seemed to help :)....it ended up being a teething thing, our vet said.

Just got home on my lunch, Ryder is acting perfectly normal and not shaking his head anymore. I haven't called the vet yet, kinda been waiting around to see how he acts for the rest of the day..

I would not ignore the problem though.
